Lydian Productions is the brainchild of Adelaide Musical Director Martin Cheney. The company was born out of the desire to introduce the people of Adelaide to new, innovative and creative musical experiences.
Cheney says that Lydian “…is more than just musicals. While we will be striving to produce both new musicals and revivals presented in a fresh and interesting way, Lydian Productions is also dedicated to showcasing the best local performers that Adelaide has to offer in a series of chamber concerts and vocal recitals”.
The company’s first production will be John & Jen, music by Andrew Lippa (Big Fish), lyrics by Tom Greenwald, and a book by Lippa and Greenwald. Musical Director will be Martin Cheney (She Loves Me, Guys & Dolls), Director, Karen Sheldon (Into The Woods, Guys & Dolls) and starring Katie Packer (The Light In The Piazza) and the very in demand Lindsay Prodea (The Goodbye Girl, Big Fish, The Light In The Piazza).
The story follows brother and sister John and Jen in the first Act and then mother and son John and Jen in the second.
John & Jen is about more than John and Jen; it’s about family; about second chances; and about knowing you can’t learn from your mistakes if you don’t make them first. No matter whether you are a sister, brother, daughter, son, mother or father, John & Jen is about all of us.
