The Fifth Business Theatre Company, a blossoming theatre company in Adelaide’s north, is thrilled to announce that, following the success of its 2016 season of the fun yet poignant musical 13, its 2017 Summer Production is Shrek Jr!
Set in a mythical “once upon a time” sort of land, Shrek the Musical is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to a slimy green swamp to exist in happy isolation. Suddenly, a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters raid his sanctuary, saying they’ve been evicted by the arrogant Lord Farquaad. So Shrek strikes a deal with Farquaad to rescue the object of his affection, the beautiful Princess Fiona, from the clutches of a fierce dragon in return for the return of peace to his swamp. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing, strange and different about this pretty princess. He likes her. But why does she always run off when the sun sets?
