BARS
Bar Bar
Pirie Street got a whole lot bolder and a little bit smaller this winter as Bar Bar, Adelaide’s newest and tiniest cocktail bar, opened its doors.
Seating just fifteen people and delivering a bold celebration of tequila, mezcal, and stripped-back charm, it’s a well-positioned bar that now provides a waiting room of sorts for people heading out to dinner reservations at the many popular restaurants on the street and nearby events and comedy shows.

Bar Canopy
The West End has welcomed a stylish new spot this winter, which is perfectly suited for wine lovers and cocktail seekers alike. Hindley Street’s Bar Canopy has transformed the former home of Stem Restaurant & Cellar into a lush, urban retreat where the beverages take centre stage.
At the helm is respected sommelier Henry Bampton, who has brought together a refined yet approachable list of wines from standout local producers like Honey Moon Vineyard and Eperosa, alongside international gems including a rare 1971 Conterno Barolo.

Bottle Shock
The highly anticipated Bottle Shock opened at the end of May as a gamified wine bar aimed at ‘shocking’ people out of their traditional views on wine and inviting everyone to play with their palate.
Set in a reimagined 120-year-old cold store in Gumeracha, the bar is the brainchild of Unico Zelo’s Brendan Carter alongside Henry Doyle and Simon Dacey. You may recognise the trio of Brendan, Henry and Noah Ward as they built a global following through their YouTube channel Wine for the People, and this is the real-life version. A place where you can sip, guess, get it wrong, and have fun doing it.

Nowhere Bar
Located along the leafy Hutt Street in what was the Olivia Hotel, Nowhere Bar is bringing 80s hits, retro vibes, and the perfect mix of pub and bar.
When owners Matt May and Thomas Hector say the venue is an extension of themselves, they mean it. The former La Louisiane duo designed Nowhere as the kind of place they’d want to drink in – casual, inclusive, and 80s. The name Nowhere is inspired by the Talking Heads song “Road to Nowhere.” This spot opened up a few weeks back!

Sober Company
Sober Company is a new bar and kitchen that has recently opened in Adelaide’s West End, bringing authentic Asian flavours, cocktails, small plates, and good vibes to the city.
Sober Company is all about bringing balance to your typical bar experience. It’s a venue that blends bold innovation with subtle tradition, working to combine the old with the new. This refined, casual spot is hoping to be a cosy and comfortable place you’ll want to enjoy time after time.

1836 Restaurant
1836 is one of the latest restaurants to touch down in the CBD, and is serving up all-South Australian food and wine in a speakeasy-style setting that nods to the city’s beginnings. It’s a blend of fine dining detail with a laid-back edge, perfectly matched to the character of its home, the Union Bridge hotel on Franklin Street.
1836 is tucked behind the Franklin Street establishment’s bar, and meshes beautifully with the pub’s interior, which was redone earlier this year after being revived by Union Bridge!

Bank Street Burger
If you’ve taken a stroll or a stumble down Hindley Street lately, you may have noticed this takeaway burger spot cornering Bank Street. There’s no secret here – the place sells burgers. But unlike other joints where you’re inundated with patties, toppings and sides, Bank Street Burger is keeping things simple. It’s just one burger, three ways, done right.
Bank Street Burger is the latest venture from the Bank Street Social team, located right next door in what was Cibo Espresso, pre-pandemic. This one opened up a few weeks ago!

Bird Yakitori
Inspired by the bars found in the streets of Tokyo, Bird Yakitori aims to feel exactly like “home.” Located on the bustling King William Road, this new spot is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday to Sunday, and serves up traditional Japanese Yakitori. This is a style of cooking that involves skewering marinated pieces of meat, seafood and vegetables over a high-heat hibachi grill. True to its name, Bird Yakitori is all about chicken.

Taikunthi
A truly Australian chapter in campus dining began at the University of Adelaide this winter, with the opening of Taikunthi. This refined yet welcoming new restaurant blends modern local cuisine with community connection and cultural depth.
Located on Level 5 of the newly renovated Union House, Taikunthi offers an experience unlike anything previously seen on campus. Its warm design, South Australian-focused menu, and sweeping views across the parklands are already turning heads. Tarantino’s
Tarantino’s is the latest venture from powerhouse hospitality team The Big Easy Group, also behind Anchovy Bandit, La Louisiane, NOLA, and The Stag.
The venue takes its cue from New York’s mid-century Italian restaurants and local institutions, with a focus on intimacy, experience, and a moody, old-world aesthetic.
