Artists impression of the new Sofitel Adelaide Hotel, set to open in 2018
Yesterday the State Government confirmed that construction is due to start in 2017 for a $140million Sofitel Hotel right here in Adelaide.
The 32 storey building will boast 80 apartments in its upper levels and 250 hotel rooms below. In addition to this their will be four bars (hoorah!), a restaurant, a swimming pool, a health and fitness centre, a ballroom, a “Sofitel Club Lounge” as well as meeting and conference rooms.
This will be the first five star hotel to come to Adelaide in around 30 years, and is expected to create many jobs in our state. Hundreds are expected to work on the building during its construction and the hotel with then employ about 150 people once it begins operating in 2018.
Accor is Australia’s largest hotel operator and it has been announced that their expert team will manage the hotel.
Adelaide is being noticed on a world-wide scale as a ‘must visit’ location. Our rustic and natural environment in SA is stunning, but The Sofitel Adelaide, located at 106 Currie St, will add a new element of five star accommodation glamour for our international and interstate guests.
