If you thought you were running out of new places around Adelaide to eat and drink, think again. An abundance of new cafes, restaurants and bars have opened in the past month so we’ve compiled a list of the 15 you need to try!

Daisy Sweetie Cafe

Daisy Sweetie Cafe offers a new cosy space, specialising in vegetarian and vegan dishes. In just a short time, the cute cafe has gained a reputation for its Asian-inspired dessert dishes that have left customers craving more.

Among their standout menu is the special Durian dessert, which is a unique fruit mocktail featuring tropical fruits like jackfruit and coconut, with jellies and durian. Other tempting treats include grass jelly (a popular jelly-like dessert originating from China) with coffee and a selection of ‘moffles’ (a Japanese creation that combines mochi rice cake cooked in a waffle iron). They also have a Boba milk tea cake and a Matcha tiramisu that we can’t look past.

Drunk’n Monkey

The laid-back family-owned locale will be dishing up Australian-Indian fusion dishes, with an array of options, from hearty breakfasts and delightful brunches to satisfying lunches, evening snacks, and mouthwatering dinners.

Drunk’n Monkey was born from a vision to blend traditional Indian culture with a touch of Western influence through their passion for food. Each dish features a quirky twist, designed to appeal to modern palates while staying true to the rich, traditional flavours of India. Delight in flavours from South India, Indo China or something from the roadside street specials.

Some of the menu highlights include Bhalla Pappadi Chaat and Sultani Fried Chicken or cool your taste buds with a Masala Ginger Chai or some Rabbari kulfi.

Peppino’s Italian Street Food

Peppino’s Italian Street Food is the new cool spot on Pirie Street which officially opened on Wednesday October 2nd. Founded by three brothers, this eatery is serving up the best of Italian street food in a convenient grab-and-go style.

The menu includes classics like arancini, cannoli, zeppole, pizza, and pasta – all designed for quick and easy enjoyment.

A standout on their menu is their New York-style pizza slices. Peppino’s serves 25-inch pizzas cut into generous slices, filling a niche in the Adelaide market for pizza by the slice. The menu includes three staple flavours – cheese, pepperoni, and sausage and mushroom – along with a rotating weekly special.

La Chica Cafe

La Chica is the most recent addition to Glenelg’s lively dining scene. Tucked away from on Sussex St, this trendy cafe is close to the beach and has fantastic dine-in and takeaway options.

The menu features breakfast and lunch options with an Argentinian, Spanish and South American but what sets them apart from the rest would have to be their bagel bar, located right out the front of the cafe. From classic options like salmon with cream cheese, to more obscure like blueberry and ricotta, smash burger, and halloumi, guacamole and salsa.

Primrose Lane

Just a short walk from Christies Beach will be Primrose Lane, a British and European style coffee shop opened by sister duo Alex and Jess. On a mission to create a unique, cosy and magical shop in the south, the sisters are promising artisan eats, amazing coffee, boutique shopping and a place for community events – all at this beach cafe.

Taking inspiration from their childhood and background, the sisters used this space to tell their story aiming to make everyone feel at home.

El Santo Latino Bar

The vibrant new establishment promises to bring Latin flavours and culture to Hindley St, next door to the Mayfair Hotel. As the newest addition to Adelaide’s bar scene, El Santo Latino will join other Latin American culture hot spots across Adelaide, like Casa Bla Bla and the Tivoli Hotel.

We spoke to owner Valeria earlier in the year when renovations were about to begin, she said she felt it was so important to “give South Australians the Latino experience”.

With the bar holding its grand opening over the weekend, we’ve been able to score a sneak peek at the new space and some exciting info regarding the newest addition to Hindley Street’s pumping bar scene.

Santi’s

The new cafe is serving up coffee and pizza by the slice, inspired by the legendary Gabriele Bonci – a Roman pizza maestro who revolutionised pizza al taglio with his signature slow-fermented dough and gourmet toppings. Santi’s is truly going to be “a slice of Roman brilliance”.

At the heart of Santi’s menu is a 24-hour fermented wholemeal sourdough, expertly crafted by Christian – Santi’s Northern Italian chef behind the magic. With over a decade of pizza-making experience, Christian started with traditional thin-crust pizzas in his hometown, but soon discovered a true passion for pizza al taglio. Now, he’s bringing his expertise to Henley Beach.

My Kingdom for a Horse now has three cafés for lovers of its multi-award-winning bites and bevvies to choose from. 

Kicking off with its spacious, retro-infused Wright St café in 2015, its second café, “My Kingdom for a Horse Coffee”, was opened on Waymouth St in 2020. Also named “My Kingdom for a Horse Coffee”, the Pirie St cafe presents another delectable option to the “Absolutely, but which one?” selection.  

Situated at 185 Pirie St, a few steps away from Hindmarsh Square (within easy reach of all the retail action and a comfortable distance from the crowds), Kingdom’s latest café strikes the perfect blend of award-winning flavours, retro aesthetics, and new, savvy tech that’ll switch the dial on your lunch routine.

Welcome to Six Shillings, a unique cafe where delicious food meets thoughtful dietary considerations. Driven by a passion for inclusivity, the owner, a Type 1 diabetic, has crafted a menu that caters not only to those with dietary restrictions but also delights the taste buds of all diners to create a welcoming space where everyone can enjoy great meals.

Six Shillings is the brainchild and dream of now-cafe owner, Siborne (Sib) Lanagan, who started her business ventures as a coffee cart.

Shelly’s Semaphore Kiosk

The vibrant new coastal kiosk promises to be the go-to spot for delicious breakfast and brunch options, refreshing cocktails, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere for visitors of all ages this summer.

Replacing the beloved Noonies At The Beach, Shelly’s brings a fresh spin on traditional kiosks, focusing on healthy, scrumptious offerings.

Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty breakfast or a light snack, Shelly’s has you covered. With an expansive children’s menu and a delightful ‘Beachside Bites’ tapas-style selection, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. There’s also an array of drinks to choose from including artisan coffee, vibrant juices, and refreshing smoothies.

The Little Munchies

The Little Munchies cafe has recently opened on Grange Road, offering a fresh place to stop for coffee on the main road. This unique new spot is bringing an all-day brunch menu, acai bowls, coffee and pastries to the table, with ambitions for late-night dessert as well.

The Little Munchies is brought to us by Kunal Nakrani, who has a long history working in the hospitality industry. After working around the country, and more recently in Adelaide, Kunal thought it was time to find a local spot to open up shop.

Southern Kebab House

If you’re on the hunt for delicious, authentic kebabs, look no further than Southern Kebab House, which officially opened this October in the heart of Morphett Vale. This family-run restaurant has quickly become a favourite among food lovers, offering mouthwatering flavours in a warm atmosphere.

Owner Masoud Teymouri said opening weekend – at the beginning of October – “went way better than expected!”

At Southern Kebab House, tradition meets creativity in every dish. The menu features a huge selection of kebabs grilled to perfection, ranging from juicy lamb and tender chicken to vegetarian options.

FIVE-FIVE-FIVE 

Previously known as ‘Mukbang’, the family behind the beloved restaurant on Field Street in Adelaide’s Chinatown has rebranded and is now bringing late-night vibes, beer, soju, and delicious Korean plates with their new diner, FIVE-FIVE-FIVE.

Owners William and Claire, along with their family, have spent 13 years of putting Korean food on the map in Adelaide. They are now electrifying their long legacy and are giving us something exciting in Chinatown!

Serving up dishes like Snowy Cheesy Fried Chicken, Dak-Jeon (a crispy chicken pancake), and Garlic Soy Pork Ribs served with melty cheese for dipping, FIVE-FIVE-FIVE is the place to go to for a fun night out, or even after a fun night out, because of their satisfying street food.

Siam Seaside

The team behind Goolwa’s popular Thai Days restaurant is bringing their passion for authentic Thai cuisine to the coast.

Step into the dining room, designed to evoke the nostalgia of a train station platform, and soak up the soothing seaside vibes. The menu is packed with classic Thai dishes like pad thai and green curry, all made with fresh ingredients and “prepared with love as if for their own family.”

But don’t expect the ordinary – Ticsanun describes the food as “authentic Thai food – elevated, it’s a little bit more modern and fancy.”

District B 5165

Beachside Bistro, District B 5165 is elevating its offerings with a transformation of its original juice bar into a brand-new gin and whisky bar this summer.

After a decade spent working in the hospitality industry, District B 5165 was opened in 2021 by Alicia Lawlor and her partner Matt.

Located in Christies Beach, District B 5165 is a restaurant, cafe and wine bar all in one, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner and now with the vibrant new bar, cocktails!
