Australia’s largest lottery jackpot has been claimed by an Adelaide resident, who reached out this morning with the winning Powerball ticket worth a staggering $150 million.
The middle-aged individual from Adelaide held the sole winning entry in division one for Powerball draw 1462, which took place on Thursday, May 23, 2024. They are set to receive the full $150 million prize.
“Woohoo! I’m still pinching myself!” The northern suburbs man cheered.
“I can’t believe it. I’m the mystery winner! I’m Australia’s biggest lottery winner ever?!
“I actually had two tickets into last night’s draw. I looked at the clock last night and saw it was getting late and thought the draw should have been done by then.”
The draws lucky numbers were 18, 29, 34, 8, 4, 28, 6 and the Powerball was 11. There were over 4.4 million in the latest draw, apart from the historic division one prize, other winners who shared over $89.3 million across divisions two to nine. Each of the nine second division winners received $276,036.95.
“So, I checked the first one and it came up with nothing, then I scanned the second one and it said $150 million!
“This was late last night and I still haven’t slept. I’ve just kept checking the ticket!
“I normally play Powerball, so yesterday was a particularly lucky day! I just bought my ticket as I was filling up the car the other day and randomly bought my ticket there. I can’t believe I walked away with the winning ticket!
“I know it may sound crazy but I’m going to continue working. I’m at work today.
“I’ll buy a house, want to travel the world and I’ve got a family and friends I want to help, but for now I can’t wrap my head around how big this prize is.
“This is life changing. I can’t stop smiling and pinching myself.
“I can’t believe my luck!”
His winning entry was purchased at OTR Salisbury Drive Thru, 142 Salisbury Highway, Salisbury.
