The refurbished Miller Apartments on Hindley St will offer guests the chance to buy art, vases and other furnishings as it seeks to offer guests a more upmarket experience and shake up Adelaide’s boutique apartment hotel sector.

Owner Martin Gribble, says the $1 million refurbishment, due to be completed by mid November, will also offer guests a ‘sensory experience’ through its vibrant colour scheme and bespoke designs.

“Our bold interiors centre around the colours of the South Australian landscape which we have incorporated into the specially designed carpeting, custom made lamps and abstract artwork,” Mr Gribble said.

“While people are used to safe, neutral tones when they visit a hotel, we have found they appreciate an element of surprise, as well as comfort, convenience and functionality, and that is what we are hoping to achieve. The response so far has been fantastic.”

In a first for Adelaide, if guests like what they see, they can buy it to take home, with a price list in the room for items such as art, vases, throws, lamps and robes.

As the only private owner of a serviced apartments complex in Adelaide, Mr Gribble is passionate about the state’s hotels industry and contributing to the renewed vibrancy in the City’s West End.

“With a long history of working in the hotel industry, I have a clear vision of what I wanted to achieve, not only with the apartments themselves, but the West End precinct,” he said.

Miller Apartments General Manager, John Ryan, believes the recent revamp of the West End precinct has helped reinforce the ideal location of the apartments.

“With new cafés, restaurants and bars filling the laneways of Bank, Leigh and Peel Streets, the revitalisation of Rundle Mall and the newly developed Adelaide Oval and Convention Centre, it’s important to offer a range of accommodation options that meet people’s elevated expectations, and we’re now in the prime position to do so for both holidaymakers and corporate guests,” he said.

The refurbishment is being completed one level at a time, allowing the hotel to continue operating with minimal disruption. Earlier in the year Miller Apartments was recognised with the highly coveted State Australian Hotels Association Award for Excellence 2014, being voted Best Apartment / Suite Accommodation.
