2010 SA Screen Awards

sasa_logoSA’S BEST SHORT FILMS ON SHOW AT THE MERCURY THIS MONTH!

 

 

 

In the lead-up to next month’s Gala 2010 South Australian Screen Awards(SASAs) Ceremony (Thursday March 4), the Mercury Cinema is screening a progressive showcase through February of all the best short and feature films in the running for prizes! The SASAs are presented annually by the Media Resource Centre and celebrate the depth of talent working in South Australia by recognising high achievement in production, direction, editing, cinematography and composition.The ‘Best Of’ screenings give local film fans a chance to catch this year’s SASA nominated short and feature films – before the winners are announced at the Gala Awards Night, which will be officially opened by the Hon. Kate Ellis, Federal Minister for Early Childhood Education, Child Care and Youth.

The ‘Best of SASAs’ program starts Sunday February 7 at 6.30pm with a stellar line-up of the very best short drama, comedy and animation made in SA –including one of the finalist films at Tropfest in 2009:local director Matthew Phipps and producer, David Ngo. The ‘shorts’ program is followed by the screening of the first of four feature films nominated for this year’s Best Feature’ Award: the independently made Banham. Additional ‘Best of SASAs’ screenings will take place at the Mercury Cinema on Monday February 8 (shorts program + screening of feature film: Counterpart’

‘Jackie’s Spring Palace’ by‘Adelaide’ by director Stephen‘The), Thursday February 11 (shorts program + screening of feature film: ‘Hollywood Librarian: A Look at Librarians Through Film’

Tickets for the Gala Awards Night – which attracts a sell-out crowd each year and the who’s who of the local filmmaking scene – are available from the Media Resource Centre ($30 per person – including the after party!).
