Big Day Out are also pleased to announce that the custom-made 14ft high x 40ft wide vert ramp will also play host to its very own ‘stage’ in Adelaide and Perth, and will take over from the main arena as soon as the main stage bands have unplugged. Concert-goers will be able to witness the awesomeness of the world’s best skaters to a live soundtrack by the likes of Mariachi El Bronx, The Bronx, Cage The Elephant and Regurgitator.
After many a line-up shuffle, Mariachi El Bronx have now been added back to both the Adelaide and Perth shows together with the ‘loud and enigmatic, empowering and positively aggressive’ sound of The Bronx, marking the first time both incarnations of the band have played on the same day, and on the same stage in Australia
Also making a welcome return for Big Day Out’s 20th anniversary is the Big Day Out Show N Shine Competition, featuring the best this country has to offer in hotrods and muscle cars.
In keeping with the times, Big Day Out will also be featuring a collection of some prized cars from the "Music on Wheels" category. These specialised vehicles will provide you with an insight into the dedication the owners have made into turning their rides into not only a visual art form, but show you what you can do with a collection of mobile sound gear.
And lastly, but by no means least, Big Day Out has always been a proud supporter of Australian music; relishing the chance to expose eager audiences to a diverse range of truly talented local artists in each city. Many of the Australian bands on this year’s national tour started their Big Day Out history with one off appearances in their home towns, yet there’s no doubt the list of talented up-and-coming local acts will be gracing the Big Day Out stages for years to come.
