The racing season is indeed upon us, as just as the award winning are horses being dressed for their multi-million dollar races, so too are the stylish women of Australia outfitting themselves in their finest cocktail attire for a healthy dose of trackside fun.
Whilst thoroughbred PPP and his racing team won the Melbourne Cup, the official most stylish lady of Derby Day 2014, Em Bodinar, was awarded the Longines Award for Elegance.
The Longines Award for Elegance is an annual fashion event held at Flemington Racecourse, where the day’s most stylish ladies are judged on the following criteria:
- Elegance – It’s an attitude.
- A striking use of colour and material that demonstrates a strong understanding of design.
- A keen eye for detail – accessories are essential, always
- Style to stand the test of time.
The finalists vying for the Longines Award for Elegance were selected from entrants in the Myer Fashions on the Field contest for “Best Dressed Women’s Race wear” on the same day.
Vogue Editor in Chief, Edwina McCann along with milliner extraordinaire Kerrie Stanley presented the Longines Award for Elegance at Derby Day, and it was emceed by Myer Fashions on the Field ambassadors Nikki Phillips and Jeff Banks.
McCann and Stanley presented Victorial Em Bodinar with her prize – a prestigous steel and rose gold Prima Luna Longines timepiece that embodies the brand’s values of elegance, tradition and performance.
The award was presented in the Fashions on the Field Enclosure which is located at the East End of the Public Lawn.
Em Bodinar’s look featured millinery by Jill and Jack Millinery, and a dress by Tony Maticevski.
She looks gorgeous.
