April 1st. It’s the one day of the year, when, for a few hours, big brands, media outlets, small businesses and mates, all throw caution to the wind, and share April Fools posts, luring their communities into believing something that’s not quite true, or outright ridiculous and this year, some of the best have stepped it up!
There have been some absolute crackers shared on social media, including some golden nuggets from South Australian Police, SAFM and more.
Here’s some of our favs.

Fruchocs new wine treats
With a FruChocs Shop in McLaren Vale and their brand new store in Tanunda in the Barossa Valley, it made perfect sense for them to team up with some of SA’s favourite wineries to bring you a new Limited Edition range of ‘WineChocs’. Their 2022 Vintage FruChocs will be “light, fruity, easy on the palate with chocolatey undertones, and because we know you couldn’t cellar them if you tried, are perfect for eating right now. (Each 150g pack is approximately 1.5 standard drinks, so please eat responsibly.)”. As if this isn’t a brilliant concept. “Because grapes are fruit, right?”

Chief Marine Scientist Dr. Ray Ireland says, “Since sand cays are formed from a build up of sediment on the reef, they come in all shapes and sizes. We’re really interested in doing more research into the marine life around this cay.” It’s not unusual for new sand cays to pop up or change shape over time, but it’s not every day you end up with a sand cay that looks like Australia!

Pick A Local, Pick SA! launches left handed pear
Did you know – Over 85% of pears are eaten as palm fruit, meaning they aren’t cut prior but eaten directly as they are with our hands?
Because pears are traditionally grown for the benefit of the majority – right handers – left handers experience an excessive amount of drips (at least 50% more) as they’re essentially eating the piece of fruit backwards. Left handers also find an uneven distribution of flavour in a traditional pear.
South Australian growers have heard these complaints and answered with a solution! The left handed pear, grown to combat these issues and give left handers the eating experience they deserve and have been unfairly missing out on.
The new variety left handed pears will be launched Friday April 1 – but only available before midday.
