The 2024 Hostplus SANFL League Season is poised for an impressive kickoff, featuring a lineup of thrilling matches to kick off the Easter Weekend festivities.
Set against the backdrop of Adelaide’s suburban venues, renowned for their family-friendly and spirited atmosphere, the SANFL men’s league gears up for its 147th year, promising intense competition.
The season opener sees local rivals Norwood and Sturt clash at The Parade on Easter Thursday, drawing anticipation from a sizable crowd eagerly awaiting the spectacle under the evening lights.
Good Friday delivers a packed fixture, with North Adelaide battling Central District at Prospect Oval, while South Adelaide faces off against Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium. Meanwhile, Woodville-West Torrens takes on West Adelaide at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.
Glenelg commences its premiership defense in a twilight showdown against Port Adelaide at Stratarama Stadium, featuring the ceremonial unfurling of their 2023 Premiership flag.
”There is a genuine air of excitement and anticipation for the 2024 Hostplus SANFL League season to begin,” SANFL CEO Darren Chandler said.
”And what better way to get started than a bumper fixture of matches on Easter Thursday and Good Friday – it promises to be a really festive atmosphere.”
The rivalry between Glenelg and Port Adelaide Magpies initiates the SANFL Super Matches for 2024, promising a festival-like ambiance for fans of all ages. These marquee games will offer not just thrilling on-field action, but also a range of enjoyable activities around the grounds, from food trucks to footy-themed games and giveaways.
“At every venue, we want to ensure that SANFL footy continues to be an accessible, entertaining family-friendly experience for all ages to enjoy,” Mr Chandler said.
“Not only are you guaranteed high quality football, it’s a chance to cheer on your club at a local ground, get up close to your favourite League players and the up and coming stars of footy and enjoy festive match day experience.”
Viewers can catch every Hostplus SANFL League match via AFL and SANFL streaming platforms, with weekly live broadcasts on Seven and 7plus. Gate prices remain consistent with 2023 rates, and tickets can be purchased online through the SANFL website or respective club platforms.
