21st Alliance Française French Film Festival

coco_1aFrancophiles and French Film Enthusiasts will be descending on Palace Nova Eastend to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the wildly popular Alliance Française French Film Festival, and this year will also celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Alliance Française in Adelaide.

Due to popular demand, the Festival this year in Adelaide will have 25% more films and 30% more sessions!  A total of 43 features will make their Adelaide premieres.   Plus over 1,900 students studying French will attend special school only sessions of selected films.

In addition to the 53 scheduled sessions, there will be opportunities to party along with the films:

Opening Night Film & Party Thursday 18 March 7.00pm: This year’s Official Gala Opening Night selection is MICMACS, the hugely anticipated new comedy-thriller from Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie) and starring Danny Boon.  A cocktail party including refreshments (finger food, Cointreau Cocktails, beer, wine) will follow the film.    All tickets $40.00

Meet The Filmmaker Event,  COCO CHANEL & IGOR STRAVINSKY Sunday 28 March 6.30pm: Director Jan Kounen will be our special guest.  He will introduce the film and conduct a Q&A discussion afterwards.   This film picks up the story of Chanel, more or less from where Anne Fontaine’s Coco Avant Chanel left off.  It focuses on Chanel’s affair with the controversial Russian composer Igor Stravinsky.  Tickets are usual prices

Closing Night Event GAINSBOURG: JE T’AIME … MOI NON PLUS Wednesday 31 March 9.30pm:  An amusing and fantastical biopic of the debonair Serge Gainsbourg – iconic singer, poet, writer, actor and general provocateur.  It traces his youth growing up in 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris, through to his transformation into the hard-living showman, enfant terrible and successful songwriter of the 50s and 60s (as famous for his glamorous lovers including Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin as he was for penning such hits as Je t’aime … moi non plus.   Tickets are $18 members/concession and $21, and include a Cointreau Blush Cocktail on arrival.

Tickets for all sessions are available now at the box office and online at http://www.palacenova.com/
