$22 South Australian Sauvignon Blanc wins top international award

South Australian wines shine at the Mundus Vini Grand International Wine Awards in Germany, with a $22 Taylors Estate Sauvignon Blanc clinching the Best of Show Australia White trophy.

A $22 bottle of South Australian Sauvignon Blanc has gone up against the best in the world and been awarded the Best of Show Australia White trophy at the 36th annual Mundus Vini Grand International Wine Awards held in Germany.

The Clare Valley-based Taylors Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2024 not only scooped up this high honour but also picked up a Gold Medal, establishing Taylors as a standout producer in a highly contested category. Impressively, the Australian winemaking state saw its labels take home 31 of the 34 Grand Gold and Gold medals distributed to Australian producers at the competition.

Mitchell Taylor, Managing Director and Winemaker at Taylors Wines shared, “Seeing Australian wines continue to succeed globally at awards such as Mundus Vini is incredibly exciting for not only us here at Taylors, but for the greater Australian wine industry. I’m thrilled to see Taylors recognised in Mundus Vini once again and our spirits will be high as we attend the international trade fair ProWein to receive this exciting industry recognition.

“Following the China tariffs reopening last year, it’s been a huge year for the Australian wine industry working to reacquaint the market with our wines. Accolades like these help shine the spotlight on our wines globally and provide us the opportunity to speak about our wines and the stories behind them.”

The Mundus Vini Awards are highly regarded within the international wine community. This event saw around 250 wine experts from 55 countries engage in a comprehensive judging process. The recognised wines, numbering around 350, will be showcased at ProWein, a primary trade fair for the industry taking place in Düsseldorf from March 16th to 18th.

Taylors Wines extended its winning streak in Europe, attaining the title of ‘Best Producer – Still White Wine’ at the Berliner Wine Trophy. The success at this neighbouring event was highlighted by an impressive eight gold medals won across Taylors’ range. This reflects the winery’s continued excellence and innovation in wine production.

The sought-after Taylors Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is described as a crisp and vibrant white wine, infused with tropical fruit aromas and exhibiting a textural finish. This product is uniquely marketed with a temperature-sensitive label that assists consumers in serving the wine at its ideal temperature.

Besides this champion product, Taylors collected additional accolades for its St Andrews Shiraz 2022, Masterstroke Shiraz 2022, and Jaraman Shiraz 2023, all of which also received Gold Medals at Mundus Vini.

The Taylors Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2024, along with other award-winning offerings, is available for purchase from select retailers, the Taylors Clare Valley Cellar Door and online, and for only $22 the award-winning wine is worth a try!
