$26 SA Sauvignon Blanc crowned the best at 2024 Sydney Royal Wine Show

A South Australian winery has won the Best Sauvignon Blanc Trophy and a gold medal for its Sauvignon Blanc at the 2024 Sydney Royal Wine Show.

Howard Vineyard has won the Best Sauvignon Blanc Trophy and a gold medal for its 2024 Howard Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Block Q Wine at the 2024 Sydney Royal Wine Show. Established in 1826, this legendary event is one of Australia’s top wine competitions and a true highlight in the wine calendar.

So, what makes Howard Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc standout as the best? The Block Q is praised for its Mandarin and white peach flavours, with subtle hints of dill, freshly cut hay, and lemon myrtle. It features a crisp acidity and a zesty, dry finish, showcasing the elegance of a fine, cooler site Sauvignon Blanc.

And here’s something fun and unique, Howard Vineyard suggests pairing this award-winning wine with seafood dumplings for a match made in heaven. Priced at just $26 a bottle, we couldn’t think of a better wine choice for a summers evening.

Howard Vineyard, a second-generation family-owned winery located in the Adelaide Hills, is know for its exceptional grape growing. Winemaker Tom Northcott highlights the region’s perfect conditions for growing Sauvignon Blanc:

“The Adelaide Hills is the premier growing region for Sauvignon Blanc in Australia,” Tom says.

“It is most delicate and pretty when grown in cooler regions and the Adelaide Hills provides a suitable platform for the growth of the highest quality and most expressive fruit.

“The cooler night-time temperatures lock in great natural acidity and the warm days give lovely slow ripening conditions.”

As one of Australia’s oldest and most respected wine shows, the Sydney Royal Wine Show continues to set the bar for excellence in winemaking. Cheers to Howard Vineyard for their outstanding achievement and to the continued tradition of top-tier South Australian winemaking.
