27 Club are returning to the Adelaide Fringe Festival on February 17, but before that, the band is taking a page out of Nirvana’s playbook for an ‘Unplugged’ acoustic gig on Wednesday Feb 15. The intimate preview for 27 Club’s biggest fans will be live from the Mismatch Brewing Co rooftop.
Heralding the return of smash-hit Fringe show 27 Club – which won Adelaide Fringe’s Best Music Award
in 2021 – 27 Club Unplugged promises to bring in Fringe season with rocking rooftop acoustic energy, and free-flowing frothies.
On Wednesday, long-time fans will be rewarded with the chance to attend an intimate pre-season event at Mismatch Brewing Co’s recently refurbished CBD venue with 27 Club Unplugged’s lead cast members: Sarah McLeod (The Superjesus) and Kevin Mitchell (Bob Evans, The Jebediah), as well as Adelaide superstars – Carla Lippis, Dusty Lee Stephensen and Cam Blokland.
“27 Club Unplugged is a one-off chance to see the stars of 27 Club up close and personal, in an intimate mode on one of the city’s most stunning rooftops,” says Zac Tyler, Creative Producer of 27 Club.
“This is a sneak peek that our biggest fans won’t want to miss, so make sure you enter our competition to be one of the lucky few to witness this live.”
Fans can enter the online contest, where self-proclaimed superfans are invited to prove their status by
engaging with 27 Club and partners on social media, with the chance to win tickets to 27 Club Unplugged in return. Check out the @27club_show instagram page for full competition details.
27 Club Unplugged will be a rare opportunity for fans and performers alike to show their love of rock and roll at the newly reinvigorated venue, Mismatch.
Mismatch co-founder Marc Huber (who is also part of the teams behind Beer & BBQ Festival and Adelaide UniBar) has been a vocal advocate on the importance of SA’s live music scene.
“Live music has been a big part of so many venues I have worked in or with, so it’s a great pleasure to be launching an event that showcases all that is great about live music. We can’t wait to share some beers on the rooftop and take in tunes from some of the greatest artists the world has known,” says Marc.
Following the acoustic show, 27 Club returns to Gluttony’s open-air venue The Fantail for a new season to reignite fans’ love of late, great stars including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse and Jim Morrison, whose hits will be brought to life from February 17 to March 5.
