Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills is set to welcome an exciting new development designed to address the growing demand for quality tourist accommodation. Known for its beautiful, leafy streets, colourful history as Australia’s oldest German settlement, and European-style charm, the town has long been a popular destination in South Australia for both locals and visitors from interstate and overseas.
Despite this, the town has lacked mid to high-end accommodation options, until now. A new development will fill this gap, bringing a modern and comfortable stay for tourists while maintaining the town’s character and improving its appeal.
The development will include 29 high-quality accommodation units, providing guests with a comfortable and stylish place to stay. Two retail spaces will also be included, allowing local businesses to thrive and giving visitors even more reasons to explore the town. Designed by local firm Bevond Ink, the building will fit beautifully into Hahndorf’s historic streetscape.
One of the challenges Hahndorf has faced over the years is parking congestion. The new development will address this by incorporating enough parking on-site, so visitors and locals won’t have to worry about finding a spot in the already busy town centre.
“I am excited to have this opportunity to provide a quality accommodation facility for Hahndorf and am pleased that some of the existing shop owners have expressed interest in coming back to the new retail tenancies,” Owner Mark Fiora, a prominent local businessperson, says. “I see this as an opportunity to grow the town of Hahndorf without impacting on the car parking congestion within the town.”
The development, located at 44 Mount Barker Road, is moving through the final stages of approval. After receiving planning consent from the Mount Barker District Council on September 3rd last year, it is expected to receive final approval soon, bringing a much-needed boost to Hahndorf’s tourism infrastructure.
This project is an exciting step forward for the town as tourism continues to grow. Visitors will have access to top-quality accommodation, while still maintaining the unique, charming vibe that makes Hahndorf a special place to visit.
