$3.9m Recreation Plaza with BMX track and parkour zone opens in Paradise

The Campbelltown City Council has unveiled the innovative Paradise Recreation Plaza, a $3.9 million venture, this week. This state-of-the-art facility, a joint effort between the Council and the Government of South Australia, is located at 91 Darley Road, Paradise.

The Recreation Plaza boasts an array of features catering to diverse interests and skill levels. The modern and contemporary design includes various skateboarding ramps, bowls, and street-style elements.

Additionally, the plaza offers a BMX and pump track, a ninja and parkour zone, a play area, and a sports zone for ball sports, ensuring an all-inclusive environment for people of all ages and abilities.

The Open Space Grant Program significantly contributed to the funding, providing $1.52 million.

Paradise Recreation Plaza emerges as a product of significant community involvement and collaboration. The project’s design is the brainchild of JPE Design Studio, while LCS Landscapes and Convic spearheaded the construction, including the skate park’s design and build.

The facility underscores Campbelltown City Council’s commitment to fostering a positive community atmosphere and enhancing the lifestyle and recreational opportunities for residents.

The Plaza includes amenities such as toilets, a barbecue area, shelters, pathways, and a spacious lawn area ideal for picnics. An accessible toilet, complete with adult change facilities and a hoist, is scheduled for availability in March 2024.

The official grand opening of the Paradise Recreation Plaza is slated for Sunday, 28 January, from 11 am to 2 pm. This celebratory event will feature experienced rider demonstrations, live music, food vendors, family-friendly activities, and an official opening ceremony.

The event is free and open to the public, inviting everyone to experience the excitement and fun of this new community space.

The Paradise Recreation Plaza, set against the stunning backdrop of giant gum trees and the River Torrens, is a modern multi-use facility designed to engage people of all ages and skill levels.

It’s an ideal spot for active individuals and enthusiasts of wheel-based sports, offering a unique blend of skate features and open spaces for community enjoyment.
