$33m Golden Grove Park ‘n’ Ride facility underway

New temporary parking area for commuters accessing O-Bahn services will be open from Tuesday 27 April.

More convenient temporary parking is now available for commuters in the north east as major works get underway on the new $33 million, approximately 450-space, Golden Grove Park ā€˜nā€™ Ride facility.

Major construction on the project, which is supporting 150 full time equivalent jobs, has officially begun, delivering on an important election commitment and providing a much-needed upgrade for the local community.

Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Corey Wingard, said the new temporary parking area for commuters accessing O-Bahn services will be open from Tuesday 27 April.

ā€œThe new temporary carpark is next to the SA Districts Netball Association and will offer free and convenient parking while construction works on the new facility are underway,ā€ Minister Wingard said.

ā€œThe old Golden Grove Park ā€˜nā€™ Ride, located on The Grove Way, contained 177 off-street parking spaces and could no longer meet the demand for north eastern public transport commuters.

ā€œThe new facility will comprise three levels of parking (ground floor and two upper levels) bringing the total number of car parks to approximately 450.ā€

Member for King, Paula Luethen, said the community has been waiting a long time for the new facility.

ā€œThis upgrade will address significant concerns about the number of parks available, the security of parked cars and the overflow of parking into nearby streets,ā€ Ms Luethen said.

ā€œThe new Park ā€˜nā€™ Ride will provide a safe and convenient option for local commuters including a ā€˜kiss and goā€™ drop-off solution.ā€

The new Golden Grove Park ā€˜nā€™ Ride will include 10 Disability Discrimination Act 1992 compliant car parks, provision for secure bike storage and a safe and convenient ā€˜kiss ā€˜nā€™ goā€™ area.

To be delivered by the Public Transport Projects Alliance (PTP Alliance), the Golden Grove Park ā€˜nā€™ Ride Project is set to improve access for South Australians by providing better connectivity between modes of transport and localities.

The new Golden Grove Park ā€˜nā€™ Ride is expected to be open in early 2022.

The temporary carpark can be accessed via Atlanta Drive at Golden Grove until the project is complete.
