Coming this October, the striking work of four of Adelaide’s up and coming artists (the Backyard Jesus, James Tylor, Laura Sourdin & Jessica Lemon), bubbling away in one gallery space, is a feast for the occipital lobe and will change the way you look at local artists forever.
The work of these four students from the South Australian School of Art endeavors to intrigue and to rouse the Festival State with their intensely personal and occasionally political viewpoints, and is a left hook to the gut of the right’s resurgent values.
The works, a mixture of painting, photography and mixed media, sizzle and spark with their artfully woven combination of technique and idiosyncrasy, forging an eclectic yet coherent rumbling of dissent in this most peculiar political climate.
Viewing this show is a decisive act of reaffirming the place of the individual, the sublime and the irreverent at a time of great political and social import.
