$400M Renmark transformation to be brought to life by ex-AFL star

The Jane Eliza development has selected Victorian company Wel.Co, as its development partner headed by former Essendon star, Andrew Welsh.

The Riverland is set to undergo the biggest transformation in the region’s history with a $400M redevelopment project moving into its final stage.

Launched by the Renmark Paringa Council late last year, The expansion of the ‘Jane Eliza’ development was created to address the growing population in the area as well as prepare for future tourism growth as the region continues to market itself as one of SA’s must-visit destinations.

Last week, the Renmark Paringa Council announced it would be partnering with Wel.Co, a development business owned by former AFL star, Andrew Welsh. After 10 years playing for Essendon FC where he was appointed Vice Captain, Welsh moved into the construction and development sector eventually starting his own company.

“As a national developer, with a focus on regional areas, Wel.Co is very excited to be partnering with Council on this landmark project that will deliver massive benefits to the local community and economy,” Welsh said.

The partnership with Wel.Co will kick off the next stage of the development which will see the design for the final masterplan finalised before building commences at the end of the year,

The most significant development in the history of the Riverland, the extension will see roughly 780 residential spaces and a revitalised marina precinct that will see the addition of much more commercial use complete with cafes, restaurants and shops. An additional 100 houseboat moorings will also be added to the marina.

Regional SA and the Riverland in particular have seen a huge boom in tourism since the pandemic with the rural, water-based lifestyle becoming a compelling choice for travellers.

This is the second South Australian project for Wel.Co as the state continues to prove itself as an investor’s paradise with its attractive property prices and strong economic growth.
