In the midst of so many development announcements coming across all of our desks, we have another to add to the books.
Jetty Road has just announced that a $50m development is finally underway on Colley Terrace. The development has been the subject of rumours for the past 10-15 years. Many tenants have been and gone with the prospect of development always looming.
The development has no title as of yet but all that we know so far is that it will be a 5-star hotel consisting of 65 rooms with a rooftop bar.
The development is a private project spearheaded by The Taplin Group. The group has a vision for the space and wants to make the terrace more serviceable to visitors.
“My vision is to attract as many people to Glenelg as possible. To create an exceptional standard where visitors fall so in love with the service they receive that they will come back to experience it again and again.
“I want to cater for markets which are not currently catered for. Business executives, large families and the long-term visitors,” Taplin says.
“This is a 50-million-dollar development. We are transforming an iconic site into 5-star accommodation with facilities not seen before in Glenelg, and in some cases Adelaide,” Taplin continued.
The Taplin team envisions “high-quality retailers, unique and sort after food businesses that will provide inimitable customer experiences unique to Glenelg. There will be a range of retail tenancies further diversifying all the different niches on Jetty Road. The space will see some of the previous occupiers re-open and will also see some exciting retail and food businesses which we are currently in negotiations with.”
The rooftop bar is something that the group is very excited about, saying “everyone’s excited about it. There is simply no facility like it in Adelaide and no matter what time you visit, whether it be winter or summer – you’ll experience the highest quality of food and drink along with impeccable customer service. Not only will it be one of a kind, but it will add to Glenelg’s growing social scene, a scene which in our opinion is becoming increasingly popular. We have fantastic bars in Glenelg, and we hope that the opening of this rooftop bar will encourage more people to stay and play.”
The Taplin Groups that they “want to be a name associated with results. We are here to improve Glenelg and help reach its full potential. We see Glenelg as being the must-visit spot of South Australia and we think it will be.”
The development is looking to be completed by the end of 2023.
