The ever-popular 5K Foam Fest fun run is back this Summer. Kicking off in Melbourne’s picturesque Myrniong, the event attracted 6,000 participants, marking the start of this year’s ‘Summer Series’. With a player base that’s only expected to grow as the festive season kicks off, the organisers predict around 40,000 participants across the country.
The event boasts 25 exciting obstacles, including immense slip and slides, challenging mud pits, and the world’s largest inflatable waterslide. Adding to the excitement this year is the debut of the “Corkscrew,” an obstacle guaranteed to provide fun for attendees of all ages. Throughout the event, a staggering 2.5 million cubic feet of foam is pumped into the course, making for a uniquely frothy experience.
A key component of the Foam Fest is its suitability for everyone. Unlike conventional races that focus purely on speed, this event encourages participation from groups, couples, families, and individuals of varying fitness levels, promoting a fun and non-competitive atmosphere. Michael Lambert, Vice President of 365 Sports Inc Australia, said “We are pumped to come back to Australia with seven events across six cities in 2024/25. Aussies love to be active and get out in the sun, making the 5K Foam Fest the ideal event during the summer and school holidays.”
2025 marks the 10-year anniversary of Foam Fest in Australia, and to celebrate, organisers are giving away special edition UV sunglasses in participant packs. The fun doesn’t end here; children under seven have their dedicated Kids FUN Zone, featuring a bounce house and a mini slide, ensuring that family members of all ages can participate in the fun.
The festival also serves a noble purpose. It functions as a major fundraising event for Make-A-Wish Foundation, with all funds raised by participants and revenue from the on-site Make-A-Wish gear check going to the foundation. In the past 15 years, Foam Fest has raised more than $5,000,000 for various charity partners, including over $100,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation last year alone. The goal for this season is to surpass $125,000.
