With summer having just come to a close we’re looking back at eight of the best new bars that have popped up around the state. From classy wine bars to distinguished distilleries, even energetic rooftop bars, this summer has brought the heat!

Bullet Club

A new dive bar hit Moseley Street in Glenelg last summer, bringing a mix of Japanese-American fusion dining with a nostalgic 90s grunge vibe. Bullet Club is where the energy of alternative rock meets modern flavours in a space that will take you straight back to the heart of grunge’s golden era.

Fleurieu Gin

Popular gin distillery Fleurieu Gin opened its long-awaited cellar door last summer, perfect for sampling top-notch gin and relaxing in a modern, picturesque venue with a G&T in hand. With local food trucks, live music, and plans for a tapas-style kitchen serving lunch and dinner, it’s shaping up to be a destination for the whole community. “There is something for everyone here, with our beautiful, grassed area, bocce green, driving range and outdoor space perfect for families wanting a relaxed day out,” owner Kylie Magor says.

And if you’re thinking of a function with a view, look no further. The distillery boasts a private room and a gorgeous grassed area overlooking Myponga, complete with twinkling fairy lights.

Gilbert’s Wine Bar & Grill

If you’ve enjoyed the charm of Good Gilbert, Burgertec, Asha, or Good Burger, you’ll love Gilbert’s Wine Bar & Grill—brought to you by the same owners, and they’re elevating the concept even further. The menu follows suit with a format similar to Good Gilbert in the sense that everything’s shareable, and the wine list is exquisite. Perfect for a cruisy late-afternoon sip, or a tasty tapas-style bite to eat, Gilbert’s is open seven days.

Ben Liew and Karl Tang, known for their first restaurant Makan, are behind this new venue, inspired by Hong Kong’s nightlife from the late ’80s and early ’90s. Expect to be transported to a lively Hong Kong street bar, complete with thoughtfully curated decor and a dazzling cocktail list featuring Smoky Mezcal and Kopi Avo Float creations. If you look around you’ll see a tiny TV playing old movies, a waving cat with huge biceps, and a vinyl collection fit for a record store. It’s a hell of a lot of fun!

Naughty Neighbour

Stirling locals and Adelaide Hills visitors, get ready to meet your new favourite haunt: Naughty Neighbour— a funky laneway bar and café already shaking up the hospitality scene in the bougie village of Stirling with its inviting atmosphere, quality brews, and a stellar drinks list. Naughty Neighbour is open seven days a week from the crack of dawn, ensuring you get that first cup of the day exactly when you need it. And for those who love a great night out, Naughty Neighbour switches on the hot pink neon, declaring the bar is open from Thursday to Sunday night.

Septimus

Septimus House of Cheese and Wine

An intimate new wine bar serving South Australian and French drops is connecting the local community with the wine industry and the state’s visual arts scene. In the old Adelaide Fruit and Produce Exchange building on Grenfell Street, Septimus House of Cheese and Wine is named after Australian artist Septimus Power. The menu highlights local and French wines, especially from growers and makers facing challenging times. What makes the bar unique is its museum collection of over 800 wines, giving patrons a rare chance to explore special vintages in a relaxed setting, scored by vinyl and CDs.

Tin Shed Distilling Co.

Already an established SA spirit producer, Tin Shed Distilling opened its first cellar door in Nairne last December. Guests can enjoy Tin Shed’s premium whiskies, vodka, rum, and gin, all distilled and aged on-site. A dedicated barrel room provides a glimpse into the ageing process, while live music performances are keeping the vibes high every Friday through Sunday. Plus, for those seeking culinary delights, the distillery boasts a smokehouse BBQ dining experience.

Two Suns

Located on the very top floor of 41 Currie Street, the new venue is bringing the sun-soaked, retro-cool vibes of Palm Springs to the CBD. Designed to feel like an urban oasis in the middle of the city, Two Suns has an open-air rooftop bar with sweeping views of Adelaide’s skyline and a chic indoor dining space that captures its California resort style. From sunset drinks and late-night beats, to events akin to a music festival, Two Suns brings it all.
