$95m development approved for ‘ORTA’ On The Parade

The $95 million development will be a focal point for modern living while retaining the village feel of Norwood.

ORTA On The Parade has received the go ahead from the State Commission Assessment Panel after the design was refined to take into account community feedback.

The project is being jointly developed by Australasian Property Developments, Rocca Property Group and Zollo Property Group.

ORTA is a $95 million mixed-use development at 128 The Parade and will be a focal point for modern living while retaining the village feel of Norwood and embracing the heritage shop fronts.

“ORTA On The Parade is our next exciting chapter following the overwhelming success of COMO in the heart of Norwood,” Australasian Property Developments and Rocca Property Managing Director, Pep Rocca said.

“This development approval is a significant milestone and we’re looking forward to kicking off construction.”

The site has more than 150 years of rich history having been established as Norwood Baptist Church in 1869. ORTA’s design rediscovers the original site function by retaining the heritage facade and employing an adaptive reimagining of two historic church halls.

“Maintaining the beautiful heritage assets along this strip of The Parade was a defining feature of ORTA’s design which also pays homage to Lake Orta in Italy,” Rocca said.

“People want to reside where there’s cosmopolitan living. They want excitement.”

Founder of Zollo Property Group, Charlie Zollo, said it was great to have another project approved for the Norwood area.

“Zollo Property Group purchased its first site on The Parade more than 27 years ago and since then we’ve continued to invest in the area,” Mr Zollo said.

“We are very excited to have obtained approval for our latest venture and look forward to transforming this iconic site into the much-anticipated ORTA development.”

The mixed-use precinct will offer a luxury lifestyle hub including boutique retail and commercial space beneath 6 storeys of spacious residences ranging from two bedrooms to a show-stopping penthouse offering.

Construction is scheduled to start in the coming months and will create around 600 jobs with another 200 new ongoing jobs coming online in the retail and commercial spaces once the project is complete.

Cheesman Architects Director, Peter Petrou, said the project team embraced the heritage of Norwood, with the shopfronts on The Parade incorporated into the design.

“ORTA is a thoughtfully reimagined development, retaining the beautiful heritage street frontages on The Parade while combining with the striking architecture and modern design of this sought-after new address,” Mr Petrou said.
