Sammy J and his purple headed puppet pal, Randy (aka Heath McIvor) are modern Australian comic icons, and deservedly so. Adelaide audiences await these two personalities and their new Fringe shows every year as much as they do the festival itself.

Their latest production, Sammy J & Randy’s Difficult First Album Tour is fairly self-explanatory: it is the tour to launch their very first CD, of the same name (read our review of the CD). So polished are these two in what they do, that it seems more a walk in the park than difficult for them.

This show is one big continuous laugh from beginning to the end (which comes all too soon) and contains everything we have come to expect from the duo – audience participation, expert ad-libbing, word play, arguments (leading to strikes and almost divorce), and very clever, extremely witty original songs.

Topics covered include almost everything and anything, including driving (even in a ‘mime’ car), the census, Swiss maidens from a past life (don’t ask!), secrets and a brilliantly funny salute to the Australian music industry.

Sammy J and Randy never disappoint, and this year’s effort is a not-to-be-missed humdinger!
