A $17k property support giveaway is now open to women in South Australia

28th Street Agency’s EmpowerHER initiative is offering property support to one lucky woman, and applications are now open.

Being a single mum herself, Adelaide buyer’s advocate Kerryn Brownson knows how quickly the idea of “someday” can creep into conversations about buying a home. Between raising kids, managing finances and keeping everything moving, long-term plans often get pushed to the side.

It was that lived reality that inspired Kerryn, founder of 28th Street Agency, to create the EmpowerHER project, an initiative designed to support women who want to buy property but feel locked out of good advice.

Each year, one woman is selected to receive a fully supported buyer’s advocacy and mentorship experience, valued at around $17,000.

The next golden spot has opened up again, and this February, another woman will be hand-picked by Kerryn, who goes through each application herself. That’s full professional property support at no cost to a deserving women who’d otherwise miss out entirely

“So many women delay buying because they feel unsure or unsupported, not because they’re incapable,” Kerryn said. “For many, the issue isn’t motivation or discipline, it’s access.”

We’ve all got dreams of what our future home may look like – maybe a white picket fence, wrap-around porch, balcony and a big yard for the kids to run about. These dreams are what Kerryn created the program for.

She saw firsthand how many capable women delay or abandon buying property simply because they cannot afford professional representation, which was unacceptable.

“When professional support is out of reach, confidence disappears and mistakes become expensive,” she said. “EmpowerHER was created to step in at that moment and say, ‘You don’t have to do this alone.’”

The program is a unique opportunity for women and single mothers to embark on their journey to property ownership and portfolio building. And a portion of every deal goes to Catherine House, an organisation that supports women experiencing homelessness.

For Kerryn, the program isn’t just about getting people a set of keys. Support continues beyond the settlement, being a go-to property advice resource.

“You’ll receive expert advice on property selection, finance referrals and investment strategies,” she said. “We’ll find the right property that aligns with your goals.”

You’ll specifically receive negotiation support and representation, a comprehensive property consultation and assessment, and tailored guidance. If a participant happens to be shortlisted and finance is not yet ready, they can be connected with trusted mortgage brokers.

Familiar with hard-work herself, Kerryn started 28th Street Agency while working in two jobs, as she studied to become a buyer’s agent and a licensed real estate agent. Since then, she’s seen many of her clients leverage the value of their savings through her innovative approaches, solid investment strategies and her fierce love of negotiating a great deal

EmpowerHER is open to all women and single mothers across Australia who are ready to take the first steps toward property ownership and are motivated and dedicated to transforming their dreams into reality.
