The team here at Glam Adelaide is always up for a shopping adventure, so when we heard the there was a swag of new, fantastic brands opening boutiques at Harbour Town, we decided to head down to check out some of the newly launched stores. Peter Alexander, Ralph Lauren Polo, Calvin Klein Underwear and Colette were on the list, and didn’t disappoint.
While we sautered through the rather epic outlet shopping mall, we rediscovered our love for bargain hunting. Gone are the days of only having odd sizes and old stock to choose from. Instead, we found a tonne of awesome finds right throughout the centre, from homewares to fashion and everything in between. The best part? IT’S ALL SO DAMN AFFORDABLE. And the timing couldn’t have been more perfect as we slide into December and start to feel the pressure of our ever-growing Christmas gift list.
We wanted to share some of our favourite finds, and were compelled to put together a guide to our favourite Christmas gifts for different budget brackets, but figured our tastes may be different to yours. To combat this, we enlisted the help of some fantastic, stylish Adelaide bloggers, who have varying audiences, tastes, and are all pro-shoppers.
So here’s our Christmas shopping guide – for gifts under $50, under $100 and over $100, plus some of our favourite things at any budget.
Thanks to interior shopping tour founder & organisation queen, Sarah Shanahan; style gurus, Sonia Styling and The Stylist Loves, and YouTube/Instagram sensation, Tiana Della-Putta for their input too!
You can’t go wrong in Typo when it comes to Christmas gifts, especially at Harbour Town, where your money stretches even farther. Everyone loves starting the new year fresh, so I chose a few stationery items that went well together as a bundle. This includes a gorgeous 2018 Planner ($10) which just came out, a gold pen (Was $19.95, now $10) and glittery coin purse ($8) to match plus a ‘Hot Mess’ iPhone cover ($10).. oh! and an adult colouring book ($17) to whip out in stressful times. God knows there are plenty to come.

Royal Doulton’s Wedgewood polka dot cup and saucer (Was $149, now $39.95) is a touch of luxury in the tea cupboard. It’s simple but oh so perfect for your Mum, grandmother or even teacher.
For your girlfriend, friend or daughter, you can’t go past Mimco – I loved the ‘Good Vibrations Stud’ (Was $99, now $39).
Peter Alexander’s comfy slippers are ideal for those lazy days spent at home watching hours of Netflix. The fluffy detailing and slide style is so on-trend right now – pair them with your favourite Peter Alexander PJ’s for the ultimate trendy yet comfortable look. I also love Seed’s simple yet chic ‘Raw Edge Panama’ hat, perfect for Summer beach getaways (Was $59.95, now $49.95)! This would be perfect for your friend, auntie or Mum.
There are so many bargains to be had at Harbour Town at the moment, and there is definitely something for everyone. Especially the family! I picked out the Calvin Klein bikini briefs ($29.95 and not including 30% off)! Bra ($59.95 not including 30% off), because you can really NEVER have enough. The Adairs linen flat and fitted sheets, singles starting from $19.99, were $79.95. Bargain! I was also drawn to the Typo essential ‘bits and pieces’ cosmetic case ($6.99) – it’s so big so the perfect travel size to hold everyday and overnight products.

A girl can never own too many pairs of earrings in my opinion and these beauties from Mimco would make a gorgeous addition to any woman’s jewellery collection. A tiny bit of sparkle paired with pale gold and pink is the perfect summer colour palette to be worn with sun kissed skin and beachy waves. Mimco ‘Slumber’ Drop Earrings (Was $99.95, now $49).
What do you get someone you have no idea what to get? You don’t want to blow out the budget but you want to get them something nice. I’d say go the ‘pamper’ route and pick out a gorgeous candle like the Ecoya Summer Spritz from Bed Bath N Table (Was $49.95, now $35.95) and team it with Ecoya’s cute Christmas cracker mini hand creams packs ($34.95).

If you’re looking for something to get kids, nieces & nephews or even something small for your husband, the Sheridan ‘Tideswell Beach towels – Poppy’ (Was $69.85 now 2 for $60) are very cool and they’ll definitely come in handy this summer. If you’re buying for your girlfriend, daughter or best friend, I found an incredible bargain at Mimco. The Piccadilly Necklace is down from $349 to $99.
I love the Royal Doulton Marquis by Waterfird Vintage classic stemless wine glasses ($99.95). They’re great for those who love to entertain or just enjoy a good glass of wine during the holidays. As a bonus – they’re more stable than your average wine glass and much easier to store! This has Mum written all over it for me.
You can never go wrong with a classic pair of white all-stars – I buy a new pair every year and wear them to death! Whoever you gift them to (if not yourself) can pair them back with a party dress for that luxe yet relaxed vibe, perfect for Sunday’s spent at Sunny’s Beach Club or Roxie’s. Bonus: Converse Harbour town has a buy 1 get the 2nd half-price deal – so it’s a win-win!
I’m always on the lookout for stylish travel suitcases for that quick overnighter and Strandbags has a wide range to choose from. My pick the Flylite Quartz Case ($94). Being comfortable in my job is crucial but it needs to be high quality and look good too which I can imagine goes for most people. So the Converse basic track pant at ($50) was a great find. If you know someone who’s moving house (maybe moving out for the first time), then Royal Doulton adds some serious style to entertaining with a range of beautiful crockery.
One fashion philosophy I’ve always lived by? When in doubt, add sparkle. These Dempsey heels from Nine West (Was $149.95, now $99.95) are the perfect party season shoes and are versatile enough to be worn with any outfit to any event. A stunning pair of dancing shoes for any dancing queen who would never be seen carrying her heels in her hand at the end of the night.
Guys are notoriously hard to buy for. I think we’d all agree, right? When in doubt though, I always head straight for Peter Alexander. Pyjamas are typically something everyone loves (men and women) but has a hard time justifying buying for themselves. Which is part of what makes it a great present! I picked out a basic Peter Alexander ‘V-neck Pocket Tee’ (Was $39.95, now xx) to go with two options – the new season ‘Engout Ginger Box Short’ (Was $45.95, now $36.75) and the ‘Penny Classic Pant’ (Was $69.95, now $27.30) then called it a day. This is a pretty solid choice for your Dad, brother or boyfriend.

If you’re spending over $100 on a Christmas gift, chances are it’s for someone close to you which is why I thought the Morgan & Finch Wooden beach chair (bluestone stripe) from Bed Bath & Table would be perfect for your dad or potentially boyfriend. They were $159.95 each or you can buy 2 get 50% off the second chair. For the lovely ladies, I’ve picked out one of my favourite fragrances which comes in a cute little gift pack at Cosmetics Fragrance Direct (Was $140, now $119).
If you know someone who loves interior decor, it goes without saying they’re all about matching dinnerware, especially for upcoming dinner parties during the holiday season. The Royal Doulton: ED Ellen DeGeneres collection: 16 Piece Set Brushed Glaze Grey (Was $249, now $124) is beyond chic.
Summer is all about outdoor entertaining with friends and I love easy pieces to wear just as much as I love displaying gorgeous homewares pieces to serve my food like the Royal Doulton wooden hand server (Was $149, now $104.30). I can’t resist a bit of girly frill, ballet style so a divine skirt from Review was a happy find (Was $199, now $139). Summer nights here we come!
What’s that saying? ‘Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.’ And if you’re going to travel, you may as well do it in style. A good quality set of luggage is essential and Samsonite is one of the best on the market. Having a carry-on sized suitcase such as this one means you’re ready to go at a moment’s notice. Vacation (or staycation), anyone?
Tried and true, perfume is always a winner. It helps if you know there scent but one of the best ones I’ve come across that works for most age groups has to be Si by Giorgio Armani. It’s pretty exxy normally so I was chuffed when I found a 100ml gift pack including the perfume, shower gel and body lotion at Cosmetic Fragrance Direct for $172. This is something I’d totally buy for myself.

The House & Garden double walled party tub (Was $249 now $149) is a classic and practical item that can be used all year round for entertaining. You could get this for just about anyone on your list! You could even throw in a bottle of your favourite Bird In Hand or Wirra Wirra.
This would have to be the Peter Alexander set – I don’t think you can go wrong with giving pyjama’s as a gift; they’re both fool-proof and thoughtful! Plus, PA always do great gift boxes as an added bonus. Love!
Ned’s at Harbour Town was a delight and made my organising heart happy! These gorgeous white baskets, placed under the tree filled with presents would look amazing! Set of 5 baskets from $15-$35.
So, I may have wandered down the ‘Splurge’ path when choosing my favourite item, but I’m a firm believer that handbags are one of those investment pieces you wear and enjoy for years to come. And, let’s be honest, if I unwrapped this beauty on Christmas Day, the husband would have so many brownie points in the bank, the price tag would be long forgotten in the tearing of wrapping paper. Oroton Ahsbury Mini Clutch (Was $445, now $267).Sonia from Sonia Styling capped off the entire shopping experience beautifully by saying, “If – like me – you like to get your Christmas shopping done all in one place, then Harbour Town is a great option. I found so many fantastic gifts under $50, particularly for women and little ones. There are also several homewares stores, so you could find affordable gifts for just about any member of your family. Another bonus is that some of my husband’s favourite clothing brands are there, which means I’ll be able to update his summer wardrobe without breaking the bank. As someone who loves to shop, that’s a gift for him… and for me!”.
