Calling all runners, walkers and riders alike… this one’s for you! If you love the sound of a family day-out along South Australia’s finest coastlines supporting fellow South Australians, you won’t want to miss this. Attracting hundreds of runners, walkers and riders each year, Muscular Dystrophy South Australia’s annual Big Red Ride & Run fundraiser is a family day-out we can all get on board with!
Taking place on Sunday 7 January at the beautiful Semaphore foreshore, the event will aim to raise much needed funds for services which improve the quality of life for children and adults affected by muscular dystrophy, as well as vital research into the condition.
Just a week before the Tour Down Under, budding cyclists have a chance to ride with professionals on a choice of a 10km and 30km ride to West Lakes and Glenelg and a 90km route ride to Glenelg via Adelaide City.
If running or walking is more your speed, there are also 5km and 10km options along the Semaphore coastline, providing a scenic and level course for anything from a casual stroll to a personal best. The beautiful coastline stretching from Outer Harbour to Glenelg makes a flat and relaxing track with breathtaking views of Adelaide’s coastline – ideal for an easy 5km to a serious assault on the 10km.
The Big Red Ride & Run is a great way to get the whole family involved, with free entertainment, food vans, free showbags for the kids and lots of cool prizes to win.
Online registrations are now open, and participants can collect their event packs on the day from 7am at Semaphore Foreshore. If you were thinking about registering for the Big Red Ride and Run, now is the time to do so!
