A Food/Wine/Music Festival Set To Blow Your Mind (And Tastebuds)

Basically this event is unmissable… The stunning setting of one of Adelaide’s most well known wineries, amazing food cooked with music as the inspiration cooked by world class chefs, a phenomenal music line up and, of course, wine… Need we say more?

PLEASE NOTE: This event has unfortunately been cancelled. Please visit the website for more details.

Embracing the surrounds of Penny’s Hills Winery on Friday November 27 and preempting the feature day’s musical entertainment on Saturday November 28, Gorgeous Table is set to redefine the festival fine dining experience.

Adding extra spice to the dining experience is the announcement of the ‘Chef’s Playlist’ themed menu, which will see each guest chef derive inspiration for their dish from their own musical tastes.

While the dishes themselves will remain secret until the evening, Gorgeous Festival has divulged the songs that the Gorgeous Table chefs will use as their inspiration.

Neil ‘Nelly’ McGlew of The Kitchen Door at Penny’s Hill will prepare a ‘Gin & Juice’ themed plate in homage to Snoop Dog, Karena Armstrong from the Salopian Inn will fashion a dish motivated by Blondie’s hit ‘A Heart Of Glass’; as Paul Baker of Botanic Gardens Restaurant will take inspiration from Tom Petty’s ‘Learning To Fly’, and Peter Reschke of d’Arry’s Verandah will develop a culinary experience from the musical notes of The Beatles classic ‘Strawberry Fields’.

“We are delighted that Gorgeous Table will return in 2015”, said Festival Director Alistair Cranney.

“The addition of the ‘Chefs Playlist’ theme is a great way to merge the two key elements of the festival while further expanding the culinary program, exposing festival goers to some of leading chefs and world class produce that South Australia has to offer.”

Accentuating the dining experience will be Penny’s Hill wines, Coopers beer, Hills Cider, and a Veuve Clicquot Champagne bar, and the evening will include a special secret performance from a 2015 Gorgeous Festival artist.

Further adding to the dinning experience is the announcement that on the Saturday of the event weekend Gorgeous Festival will be hosting its Pop Up Sit Down festival restaurant, offering two dedicated sittings. Each sitting will be lead by South Australian culinary leaders; the lunchtime sitting by Penny’s Hill own Kitchen Door Chef, Neil ‘Nelly’ McGlew; and the dinner sitting designed and served up by Port Noarlunga’s Hortas.

Saturday November 28 will see the Gorgeous Festival come alive with some of Australia’s finest contemporary musicians including the multiplatinum, award wining international sensation Kate Miller-Heidke, the all girl rockers Stonefield; Nikki Bomba and his internationally acclaimed big band The Melbourne Ska Orchestra, the acoustic folk rock duo Falls, rising hip hop prodigy Dylan Joel, Sydney’s young indie-pop songstress Montaigne, and Adelaide’s own Jesse Davidson and Rin McArdle.

Gorgeous Festival will be held from November 27 – 28, at Penny’s Hill Winery, McLaren Vale. Tickets and more information are available from www.gorgeousfestival.com.au.
