Little Bang Brewing Co. is once again winding back the clock several centuries, filling its Stepney brewery with sword fights, fire spinners, hearty food and plenty of medieval mischief.
Fire & Froth returns this Saturday, August 15, bringing a full day of flame, fermentation and folklore to Little Bang from midday.
The free festival is essentially an excuse to dress like a knight, mage, barbarian, king or queen and spend an afternoon immersed in medieval-inspired food, music, entertainment and revelry.
And this year, the team is going bigger.
Throughout the afternoon, Ironclad Academy Of The Sword will take over for a series of live sword-fighting demonstrations and music from midday with harpist Emma Horwood, before folk group Spiral Dance performs from 2pm to 5pm.
Once darkness sets in, fire spinner Eddie Embers will light things up, followed by the crowning of the day’s best-dressed attendees.
Then Thou Must Party Hardy will keep things moving into the evening.
Fire will be just as important in the kitchen, with the brewery serving flame-cooked food straight from the smoker and spit throughout the day.
There’s also a new release to mark the occasion, with Little Bang unleashing its Doom Bound Baltic Porter 2026 for the festival. The brewery has described the annual event as a celebration of “flames, feasting, fermentation, and folklore”, with the porter joining Little Bang’s wider line-up across the day.
Last year’s inaugural Fire & Froth brought together Little Bang’s love of bold beers, food and slightly unusual events, and the medieval concept clearly struck a chord, enough for the brewery to bring it back for another round in 2026.
There’ll also be market stalls filled with curiosities and trinkets, while costumes are very much encouraged. Prizes will be handed out to the best dressed, so this is one event where arriving in chainmail probably won’t earn you any strange looks.
And while tables have been filling quickly, walk-ins are welcome, with the festival itself completely free to enter. Little Bang and current event listings recommend booking a table in advance where possible, particularly given the popularity of last year’s event.
So, find the cloak hiding at the back of the wardrobe, gather your crew and prepare for an afternoon of feasting, fire and medieval chaos in the middle of Stepney.
