As South Australia’s lockdown continues, it’s a great time to stock up your freezer with the best homemade meals, so they are easy to grab at a moment’s notice. Luckily enough several SA eateries have done the hard work for us and produced top-quality heat and eat meals that we can all enjoy at home, with no need to battle the crazy lines at the supermarket.

So whether you just don’t feel like cooking, or you are craving a nice home-cooked meal from your favourite local restaurant, here’s an extensive guide to Adelaide eateries serving heat and eat meals right now.


The Bridgewater Inn

The Adelaide Hills local pub The Bridgewater Inn is offering some amazing heat and eat meals throughout SA’s lockdown, including curries and Napoletana pasta dishes for $10 and $5 deserts for those craving something sweet after a good hearty meal.

Pop into the pub and visit the friendly staff to pick up your meals and see what they have in stock. A licensed venue, the Bridgewater Inn is also operating as a bottle shop and offering takeaway food from their main menu as well.

Chefs on Wheels

Born out of the pandemic, Chefs on Wheels is an amalgamation of some of Adelaide’s top chefs who are passionate about delivering the best-quality meals to your door.

The company offers an extensive range of products that suit every type of dietary requirement, so whether you are gluten-free or vegan you too can tuck into these fantastic pre-made meals.

Bundle and Save: There are a few of Chefs on Wheels awesome money-saving bundles left, like the Thai Night or Indian Night bundle – but hurry they are selling out fast. Bundles serve approximately 5 people, so is the perfect size to feed the whole family.

Shipping is $15 flat-rate delivery across SA, with free shipping on orders over $150. Free click and collect from their Glynde store Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Fleurieu Pantry

The 100% gluten-free café in Port Noarlunga is serving up some tasty and healthy heat and eat meals that you can stock up on. While the menu is coeliac friendly, the Fleurieu Pantry promises that you won’t be able to taste the difference!

This week’s menu includes a Thai red curry, schnitzels and spaghetti Bolognese. The full menu can be found on the Pantry’s Facebook page. All meals are made fresh in-house daily and can be altered to meet other dietary restrictions.

Meals are $13 each and are available to pick up from the café between 4pm and 5pm Tuesday to Sunday.

George’s to Go

Popular CBD restaurant, George’s on Waymouth are continuing their mouth-watering George’s to Go hampers this week, bringing the fine dining Mediterranean cuisine to your front door.

The handy heat-and-eat hamper is $180 and comfortably feeds four people. Place your orders online or call 08 8211 6960 by Thursday to collect your order Saturday afternoon.

George’s to Go hamper includes:

A 12-hour braised lamb shoulder
Taramasalata, baked potato & rosemary sourdough loaf

Out in the Paddock

The event and catering company are offering their OITP at Home service throughout the lockdown period that is chocker-block full of warm and hearty meals.

Tuck into family favourite meals like OITP’s beef lasagna or pick up one of their beef Bolognese or Napoletana sauces to mix in with your pasta. Out in the Paddock are also offering homemade arancini packs and delicious iso-graze hampers.

Place your orders online by Tuesday 9am for a Wednesday delivery (fees apply) or pick up available from their Henley Beach store. Minimum spend of $50.

Ottimo makes pasta for busy people in mind, giving everyone the opportunity to tuck into ‘Nonna-approved’ pasta, pronto! Roughly translating to ‘delicious’, Ottimo’s provides pasta packs and antipasto that are delivered straight to your door.

The pasta company offers dishes like creamy pumpkin ravioli, maccheroni meatballs and tortellini carbonara, which you can buy in bulk in Ottimo’s Quattro or Dozen packages, which include a bottle of Rosso or Bianco vino and free delivery.

Ottimo delivers across metropolitan Adelaide as well as some regional locations. Pasta arrives 2-4 days after purchase with a $15 flat rate.

PlantB Life

Born out of a passion for inspiring people to eat more fruit and veg, PlantB Life is continuing to offer plant-based meal deliveries across Adelaide.

The company has an easy-to-follow meal plan service that lets you select anywhere between 5 and 18 meals to be delivered per week, with vegan versions of the classics such as mac & cheese, lentil dhal and burgers.

PlantB Life also have some great winter warmers ikarian stew, that is easy to freeze as well.

Deliveries arrive after 4pm every Tuesday and are available 15km outside the CBD. PlantB Life is also a subscription service, so fresh home-cooked meals will arrive at your doorstep each week!

The Prep House

The family-owned Prep House is dedicated to creating heat and eat comfort food, filled with love that the entire household can enjoy.

A wide array of meals are available to order online from the company, which can cater up to an impressive 8 people per serve! Serving sizes comes in two family options – 1kg for 4 people, or 2kg for 8 – and come with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.

Haven’t got an army of hungry mouths to feed? The Prep House is currently trialing single portion-sized meals like beef stroganoff, lamb rogan josh and creamy chicken & spinach pasta.

Click and collect orders are available Monday to Thursday 8am until 5pm, Friday 8am – 3pm and Saturday 10am ‘til 2pm. Food is packed and ready within a few hours of placing an order, with overnight orders available 10am the following weekday morning. Pick up from their storefront in Edwardstown.

Delivery is also available, with orders heading North of Adelaide on Tuesdays and South of Adelaide on Thursdays. If in metropolitan Adelaide, place your orders by 9:30am if you would like same-day delivery.

The Stirling Hotel

The classic pub in the Adelaide Hills is offering a pickup heat & eat service full of indulgent meals that will satisfy all your winter cravings.

The full menu includes:
Wagyu and three-cheese lasagne
Chicken & mozzarella meatballs
Duck Meatballs with XO sauce

Nettle and Knead

The boutique artisan bakery has put together some great homemade meals and DIY roasts that are guaranteed to keep you warm during this wintery week.

The roast includes all the family’s favourite menu items, such as preserved lemon, herb butter and garlic breadcrumbed stuffed chicken, roasted potatoes, pumpkin, carrots and broccoli. The pack retails for $50, but get in quick – there is a limited supply.

If roasts don’t take your fancy, Nettle and Knead are also selling pre-made vegan and massaman beef curries, lasagnas and Moroccan lamb.

Andre’s Cucina at Home

Andre’s Cucina is answering all your foodie desires this lockdown, offering ready-to-eat dishes that you and the family will love.

Cucina’s frozen range includes chicken cacciatore, lasagna and of course, gnocchi ragu and is designed to generously feed two people. The hearty dishes are already frozen, and simply need to be re-heated before you tuck in.

Order online before Sunday 11pm for a Wednesday collection, or Wednesday 12pm for a Friday pickup.

The Caterers

The Caterers make dinner time easy with an array of delicious home-cooked meals available on their website. Meals vary across every cuisine, so you can dig into a pork and veal lasagne with buffalo mozzarella or chicken laksa soup!

There is easily adjustable sizing for all meals online, so whether you are feeding a family or just yourself there is something for everyone. Meals are both fresh and frozen, allowing you to pick what’s best for you!

Order your meals online by 12pm each Monday for delivery the following Wednesday – or pickup from their Vale Park shop Wednesday to Friday between 9am and 6pm. Running out of time? Pop into The Caterers shop and see what they have in stock.
