A Haven For Wine Lovers Is Coming To The Adelaide Showgrounds

Calling all wine lovers, your chance to taste the country’s very best in wine is coming to the Adelaide Showgrounds in time for the October long weekend.

Celebrating its 21st Birthday, Taste of the Best is returning for another year and is a chance for every wine lover to sample the country’s top wines entered through the Royal Adelaide Wine Show competition.

This is the most prestigious wine show in the country and will feature more than 2600 local, regional and national wines.

Held in the Wayville Pavilion at the Adelaide showgrounds on Friday 4 October from 6pm until 8:30pm, this is truly a wine enthusiast’s haven.

“It’s a special opportunity for people to taste an expansive range of wine all in the one place. We have many wineries and independent winemakers taking part in this year’s event, with approximately 70 per cent of wines represented from South Australia,” says Wine Committee Chair, Greg Follet.

This year’s event will offer a range of rare single varietals for the ultimate wine fanatic, as well as 70 other categories of wine, ensuring there’s something for everyone’s tastebuds.

A number of masterclasses and workshops will also be available for people to enjoy, including the intimate experience at the ‘Riedel Sensory Workshop’ where wine fans will learn how certain glassware can enhance the flavour and aroma of wine, becoming the ultimate wine connoisseur.

A masterclass by the National Wine Education and Training Centre is also on offer for those who are overwhelmed by the wide selection of wines available and eager to learn more about tasting.

Tickets for Taste of the Best are going for $70 and include a tasting glass to take home, cocktail food, a catalogue listing all the wines available, as well as live music performed by country musician, Tanya Cornish.

All wines entered in the Royal Adelaide Wine Show are judged by a panel of honourable judges from across Australia over four days. Each wine will be assessed on their colour, clarity, purity of fruit, and palate, in order to determine medal and trophy winners.

A great way to kick off the October long weekend, Taste of the Best gives guests a chance to taste the country’s world-renowned wines, whilst providing the chance to meet experienced winemakers and mingle with other wine buffs.

Taste of the Best will take place at the Wayville Pavilion, Adelaide Showgrounds, on Friday 4 October from 6pm.
