Wirra Wirra is hosting an evening of casual conversation and connection for hospitality workers in the Fleurieu, designed to engage people in discussions of mental health.
Created by industry professionals, ‘Balancing Plates – After Hours’ is the third installment in an initiative that promises a relaxed atmosphere for individuals working in the industry, set against the picturesque backdrop of this McLaren Vale vineyard.
Starting with casual drinks on arrival, followed by shared platters and sparkling conversations that facilitate a night of reflections and reconnections, workers will find themselves surrounded by people who understand and acknowledge the trials and tribulations of working in the hospitality industry.
Founded by a group of local leaders and aimed at workers from across the Fleurieu Peninsula region, ‘Balancing Plates – After Hours’ will unite back-of-house and front-of-staff professionals for a night of peer engagement and keynote speakers, sparking important conversations about mental health and industry struggles.
“Hospitality is built on people who give so much of themselves to create experiences for others,” says the organising team, comprised of a group local leaders that initially met as part of the Fleurieu Future Leaders program.
“Balancing plates – After Hours at Wirra Wirra is about giving something back – creating space to pause, connect and remind people they are not alone in what they are experiencing.”
From dinner and drinks to an empathetic ear from new comrades and knowing professionals, ‘Balancing Plates – After Hours’ aims to bring together the workers that give so much to the thriving Fleurieu hospitality industry, providing support and promoting more positive workplaces, with the intention of expanding the initiative throughout the region.
