A New Reason To Visit Sydney – More International High Street Brands

Macquarie Centre to welcome Australia’s largest line up of international high street brands.

1cda943f-a3f9-4961-8782-c6679b09a8ffSydney shoppers will be spoilt for choice at the new Macquarie Centre, which today revealed it will be home to the most large format international high street fashion brands of any Australian shopping centre. H&M, UNIQLO, Zara and Gap have all confirmed residency at AMP Capital’s Macquarie Centre.

A fifth brand, to be announced in the coming weeks, will further add to the impressive line up.

Macquarie Centre’s $440 million transformation will be unveiled on 16 October 2014, with the enviable mix of international stores joining domestic powerhouses, Myer and David Jones (in its first new premises in Sydney for seven years). These will form part of a glamorous two floor fashion galleria that will feature a total of 130 speciality fashion and beauty stores.

The list of stores doesn’t stop there, with luxury Australian designers Scanlan Theodore, Zimmermann, Alice McCall, Gorman, Willow and Sass & Bide adding weight to the already impressive list of retailers.

Yael Bradbury, Senior Marketing Manager Macquarie Centre, said: “Macquarie Centre will be transformed into a leading fashion, lifestyle and leisure hub for Sydney with the first and highly anticipated H&M, the first UNIQLO in the city’s north and Zara will be the only store on Sydney’s north side to stock a full children’s range, complementing the strong children’s offer from H&M, UNIQLO and Gap.

“Macquarie Centre is being completely transformed to become a fashion mecca for both men and women of all ages, offering fantastic fashion choices for all styles and budgets.

“We have some grand plans for when our doors open upon completion of the redevelopment, including two fashion runway shows to showcase everything we will have to offer at Macquarie Centre.”

As well as being the new destination for the fashion savvy, Macquarie Centre will also become the largest suburban shopping centre in New South Wales, with 138,500 square metres of floor space.

Next week, the centre will also launch My Macquarie, a personalised app for shopping, fashion news, trends and events.  It is the first Australian app to feature catwalk-to-mobile technology, which allows users to compile a ‘look book’ of favourite outfits from the live runway event on opening day and then helps them to navigate their way around the centre to browse and purchase items.

The new-look Macquarie Centre will be a premium shopping destination that will also feature a dining and cafe precinct, approximately 5,000 car spaces and premium services including valet parking, porter shopping and free WIFI. Stage one of the redevelopment opened in July and includes a Fresh Food Market precinct featuring new Coles and ALDI supermarkets alongside a refurbished Woolworths.  It also includes a range of market-style eateries such as Costis Seafood Market Macquarie, Inlakesh Living Foods and F & L Gourmet.
