Strathalbyn Community Swimming Centre is ending the season with its much-loved Paw Party, a full day of splashy dog-friendly fun, all in support of mental health.

If you missed out on the Mount Barker Mountain Pool puppy pool party a few weeks ago, you’re in luck! To close out the end of the swimming season, another local swimming centre is throwing the ultimate doggy pool party to celebrate, and it’s going to be as pawsome as it sounds.

On Sunday, May 4th, the Strathalbyn Community Swimming Centre is hosting their annual super cute Paw Party, inviting the community to bring their furry friends for a day of fun.

“Our Paw Party returns for another year of tail-wagging fun at right here at Strathalbyn Pool on May 4 2025! We’re opening the pool exclusively to our furry friends for a one-of-a-kind swim,” wrote the Strathalbyn Community Swimming Centre team on Facebook.

The pool will be open exclusively for the dogs. Whether it’s soaking up the sun or dipping in the pool, we’re sure this is a day they won’t want to miss.

To help all the pups make the most of the day, it will be split into five hour-long sessions. First up at 8:30am is the extra small dogs between 1kg and 10kg. At 9:30am, there will be a mixed session, so as long as your dog or dogs are well-mannered and play nicely with others, they can head down. At 10:30am large dogs weighing between 11kg and 26kg will get the pool to themselves. This session is followed by the extra-large dogs between 26kg and 45kg. To round out the day, there will be another mixed-size session.

Tickets for the event are $10 per dog and owner. There’s a maximum of four people per dog, but extras can join with a gold coin donation at the door.

All proceeds from the event go to the YMCA SA Mental Health Initiatives, a program launched by YMCA that aims to help YMCA members both mentally and physically across the state.

This only comes around once a year, so if you think it’s something your dog would like, this is a must-attend event. Whether you’re a local or looking for an excuse to go for a drive through the hills, this is something you (and your pets) won’t want to miss. Make sure to reserve your spot online before you go!
