Taco Tuesday – never heard of her. At Hecho en Mexico, it’s all about Taco Thursday and this week they’re turning up the heat with an unmissable one-night-only offer.
On Thursday, October 9th, this Peel Street spot will be slinging $5 birria tacos. Pair that with $11 Tamarind Mezcalitas and $11 Tamarind Margaritas, and you’ve got yourself a fiesta that’s too good to miss.
You may know of birria from scrolling your TikTok or Instagram, but for those who aren’t yet in the know, it’s flavour-packed meat or veggies wrapped in warm tortillas and served with a rich consomé sauce for dipping. This is authentic Mexican street food that’s gone viral online for good reason, and now Adelaide gets its turn to try it at a price that won’t break the bank.


Hecho en Mexico co-founder Menak Grover shared, “Birria has been making waves around the world, but for us it was also about giving people the chance to enjoy something that has been a staple in Mexican street food culture for generations. The online buzz added momentum, but the heart of it was wanting to bring this slow-cooked tradition into our kitchen and share it with Adelaide.”
Available in beef, chicken or veggie, each taco is cooked low and slow with a blend of Mexican chillies and aromatics, then grilled and packed with melted cheese, fresh coriander and lime.
“Our birria is slow-cooked until the meat is tender and infused with a blend of traditional Mexican chillies and aromatics. The tacos are then dipped into the consomé, grilled on the plancha until crisp, and served with melted cheese, fresh coriander and lime. Every bite is juicy, smoky, cheesy and a little spicy, exactly how birria should be.”
The Peel Street restaurant is the only South Australian location for Hecho en Mexico, which has venues across VIC, NSW, QLD and the ACT. Opening with a mission to bring fresh, authentic Mexican food to Australia, the Adelaide cantina quickly found its groove.

Aside from the tacos, the one-night special also includes tamarind-based cocktails designed to cut through the richness with a tangy, refreshing kick. The Tamarind Mezcalita and Tamarind Margarita are both just $11.
