Seb and Tom unveil plans for Plant 3’s resident hair salon

Owners and creative directors Seb Joseph and Tom Christarella will specialise in a range of hair styles and services at their Bowden salon.

Seb Joseph and Tom Christarella have been best friends since they were nine years old. The Adelaide natives have worked at the same hair salon for seven years and now, they’re opening a shop of their own.

Seb and Tom is set to open in Plant 3 at the beginning of April with its namesakes at the helm. The pair will be joined by three apprentices, all of whom they’ve worked with previously.

“Seb and I have known each other for so long that we’re basically like brothers,” Christarella says.

“The whole team has worked together for years, so we’re like a nice little family,” Joseph says.

“And that family mentality is what we’re all about.”

The hair salon will specialise in “Instagram and fashion” styles––baliage, face-framing highlights, ombré, bold and blond colours––as well as men’s clipper cuts and hand-drawn extensions by Adelaide-based Yovanka Loria.

Seb and Tom will offer quick cuts for clients who like to come with their hair pre-washed for an in-and-out service, and they will do more premium colours and blow drys. The salon will also do formal styling for events, which is soon to include up-do’s; The bridal party for part owners of Plant 3, for example, is getting their hair styled at Seb and Tom.

Nestled between Bowden Brewing and an eatery next door, the hair salon will join a neighbourhood of diverse shops and restaurants in Plant 3. While the salon is still under construction, the hair dressers look forward to their new home.

“We love the community aspect of Plant 3, that it’s a hub of businesses all working together,” Joseph says.

“We’ll definitely fit right in because it suits the relaxed way we work… and we love food,” he jokes.
