Straight out of the subways of New York and Hong Kong is the Adelaide Railway Station’s newest coffee bar, Commute.

Making your morning commute to work just a tad sleeker and sexier, Commute has married modern neon art and technology with the industrial and commercial buildings that have stood the test of time.

Operators Wilson, Isabelle and Ashley are hoping to bring some colour into people’s mornings and break down the negative associations with people’s commute to work.

With a levy of hospitality names backing their repertoire, Wilson and Isabelle spent 10 years in London and are currently launching ‘Truck ‘N’ Roll’, a vintage Citroen HY Foodtruck.

Ashley Peek hails from culinary kingdom, having worked across some of Adelaide’s best with Bistro Blackwood, Rigonis Bistro, Cream and now fried chicken kings at Buk Buk Southern Hot, in his history.

Commute will primarily trade as a coffee bar but expect Elementary Coffee running the smooth espressos.

For coffee fiends they’ll be running a series of guest instalments (Kindred Coffee, Seek and more) of batch brews, and for those with some extra time on their hands, sit down and enjoy their custom made ceramic cups from Port Adelaide’s Studio OH-10.

Their changing menu is also one to look out for. Their iteration on the classic ham and cheese sandwich features smoked ham hock, piccalilli, rich mature cheddar, french fry crisps on a light floury roll.

On the other hand, the classic chicken salad sandwich is also mouth watering, with smoked chicken, Jalepeno mayo, avocado, Swiss cheese, lettuce and pickled tomatoes. You’ll also find Baba Ganoush, citrus dressed zucchini, mint, rocket and roast pumpkin crisps.

Check out their fresh blooms, courtesy of florist Beclu Flowers. Each week, Commute will be giving away a floral arrangement.

Commute, at its heart, is all about speed and flavour, but there will be limited seating that’ll allow you to watch the trains roll in.

Opening Hours
6:30am – 2:30pm Monday – Friday

Find Commute at 125 North Terrace, Adelaide.
