You can now get sushi burritos in Adelaide’s CBD

Bakmi Lim owners are bringing a Sushi X Burrito eatery to Waymouth Street.

Restauranteur David Lim’s new joint on Waymouth Street, just down from Proof, epitomises Insta-worthy eating. It’s long candy-coloured room with pleasing curved lines and trendy plants everywhere. It’s called Sushi Burri — a portmanteau of the words sushi and burrito — and it serves, you guessed it, burrito-sized sushi rolls.

While this may sound like the biggest gimmick in the world, Lim’s actually just done what no one in Adelaide has been smart enough to do yet: make a roll of sushi that’s actually big enough to fill you up. He’s also offering sushi-salad hybrid bowls.

There are two ways to go. Either choose a roll from the menu and have something like ponzu marinated salmon with fresh avocado, lettuce and salmon roe; or tofu, mango and julienne carrot. Alternatively, let your imagination run wild, and create the giant sushi roll you’ve always dreamed of. Consider it the Subway of sushi joints, only classier.

Your creation will made right before your eyes, so there’s no risk of dry rice or sad wilted lettuce. In fact, everything we’ve tried has been super fresh, with nicely seasoned rice, fun textures, and a liberal hand on the mayo. Paired with Lim’s affable service, we reckon he’s onto a winner.

Find Sushi Burri at 24-28 Waymouth Street, Adelaide. They’re open Mon – Friday 10:30am – 4pm and Saturday 11am – 4pm .
