A Vegan Picnic with over 50 food options is taking over the Parklands in December

50 of Adelaide’s best food vendors will come together to surprise you with their vegan creations of all your favourite foods.

South Australia’s food scene is fast becoming one of the best in the country with an endless number of options to suit any dietary need. With the rise of plant-based eating and its growing popularity among dedicated vegans and food-lovers alike, it’s no wonder that the Vegan Festival Adelaide is one of the most popular food-related events on our calendar.

This year, things are looking a little different, with a smaller, more casual version coming to the parklands. Vegan Picnic will have the same fun, foodie vibe as its predecessor opening its gates to the community to come to see what all the fuss is about.

This one-day, compact version of the festival on Sunday 11 December, is completely FREE to attend – all you have to bring is a rug and a hearty appetite.

You won’t be short on choice with over 50 fabulous plant-based vendors ready to satisfy your taste buds including Staazi & Co (ranked in the top 10 vegan food trucks worldwide), dairy-free cheese from Milkless Cheese, plant-based burgers from Lord of the Fries, gluten-free donuts from OMG! Donuts and alcohol-free mocktails at Don’t Mock Me. Chocolates, ice-cream, succulents; if it’s made out of plants, chances are you’ll find it at the Vegan Picnic!

For the sweet tooths, chocolates, ice cream, donuts; if it’s made out of plants, chances are you’ll find it at one of the 50 vendors at the Vegan Picnic!

Four-legged friends are the guests of honour with vegan dog treats available and even doggy massages to relieve the stress from a long hard day of zoomies.

If you’re not completely plant-based, don’t be deterred from attending Vegan Picnic, in fact, you may find yourself pleasantly surprised. As popularity grows around food choice, culinary creativity has reached new heights with plant-based versions of almost anything you can imagine now available.

There are many reasons people choose to go vegan or incorporate more plant-based meals into their diet with animal welfare being the main motive, closely followed by environmental concerns.

Reducing your meat consumption is proven to reduce your carbon footprint with vegan and vegetarian diets associated with the greatest reduction in greenhouse gas emissions when compared with other diets. Plant-based diets also require less water and land use than a carnivorous diet.

Australia is leading the way for plant-based eating with Adelaide ranking 12th as the most popular city for veganism. Whether it’s for ethical motivations, environmental reasons or because the food is so damn good, people across all demographics are opting for cruelty-free food and the vegan lifestyle overall.

Vegan Picnic celebrates the creativity of South Australia’s plant-based chefs and gives vegans, the V-curious and begrudging sceptics, the opportunity to enjoy the best of local vegan food creations among like-minded friends.
