Abbots & Kinney Made A Gin Donut And It’s Totally Tantalising

Abbots & Kinney and Adelaide Gin have spent the last few months working to create a glazed, gin-flavoured donut in celebration of World Gin Day.

What happens when an artisan distiller and an artisan bakery collaborate?

A gin donut.

A gin donut happens, and it’s exactly the news we needed on this rather chilly Monday morning.

Abbots & Kinney and Adelaide Gin have spent the last few months working to create a glazed, gin-flavoured donut in celebration of the upcoming World Gin Day.

“It comes at a perfect time for South Australians, who are celebrating the end of strict social isolation rules,” says Michael Hickinbotham, founder of Adelaide Gin and Australian Distilling Co.

According to Hickinbotham, the gin donut tastes like an Adelaide Gin with tonic water and a slice of orange (as it is best drunk).

The collaboration will officially launch on World Gin Day, Saturday, June 13 (yes, we’re counting the days).

Some of the gin donuts will be stocked in the Abbots & Kinney Croyden store but pre-orders are recommended.

“We haven’t done a gin pastry before so it was a fun process working out how the flavours paired together, especially with the floral nature of Adelaide Gin,” says Jonny Pisanelli, owner and head pastry chef of Abbots & Kinney.

The gin donut is also vegan, so even more South Australians can indulge in the sweet treat.

Bring on June 13.

Pre-orders are available now via the Abbots & Kinney website here.
