Adelaide’s morning radio landscape is set for a dynamic shift in 2024 as the beloved duo, Sonya Feldhoff and Jules Schiller, are announced as the new hosts for ABC Adelaide’s Breakfast show.
Known for their lively and engaging style, the pair promises to bring a fresh and invigorating start to the day for Adelaide listeners.
Sonya Feldhoff, a familiar voice on ABC Adelaide, has been at the helm of the Afternoons program since 2012. Her extensive experience in radio, spanning over 25 years, includes roles as a journalist, producer, and presenter.
Sonya began her career as a cadet journalist at FiveAA in 1990 and later joined ABC in 2007, where she worked on various shows before taking over the Afternoons slot.
Joining her is Jules Schiller, who has been steering the Drive program since 2017. Jules’s radio career blossomed in the early ’90s as a scriptwriter and co-host on 3RRR’s Breakfast program. His journey through the airwaves has seen him work in several commercial radio stations across Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney, before returning to Adelaide to join ABC.
The duo has already established a strong rapport with ABC audiences through their popular ‘Sonya and Jules Off the Cuff’ segment on the Afternoons program. Their seamless chemistry and ability to engage with listeners have been a highlight of their collaboration.
Of the new role, Sonya said: “Doing Off the Cuff with Jules over the past few years has been one of the big joys of my work life.”
“I’m looking forward to bringing that fun and heart to the other end of the day, along with all that makes Adelaide tick and the listeners who are already part of our Off the Cuff family.”
Jules echoed the sentiment and said: “My spontaneous and unplanned half hour with Sonya and listeners has always been the highlight of my day. I’ve always wished it could go for longer. And now it can!”
“I can honestly say I’ll get up each morning with a smile on my face knowing Sonya and I can have the conversations that matter to Adelaide. And in a double bonus, I now have the afternoons free for Sonya to finally teach me to drive a manual.”
ABC Adelaide Manager Graeme Bennett said: “Our audiences have come to love Sonya and Jules’ regular Off the Cuff program and we’re excited to bring them together for our Breakfast audiences. For the past two years they’ve built their extraordinary on-air chemistry with some of the most original and entertaining broadcasting you’ll hear.”
“In 2024 ABC Adelaide will continue to celebrate the vibrant Adelaide community and with Sonya and Jules in Breakfast, we know we’ll be setting the right tone for the day.”
The ABC plans to make further announcements regarding the 2024 lineup in early December.
