Aboriginal Artists Encouraged To Apply for Upcoming SA Exhibition

If you know of any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists living in South Australia – young or old – then you will want to tell them about this.

Our Mob is a state-wide exhibition and program of events, highlighting the diversity of contemporary art by South Australian Aboriginal Artists.

Applications for Our Mob 2019 are now open and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists living in South Australia are encouraged and invited to apply.

Students and artists who are under 18 are also encouraged to apply for the Our Young Mob.

Starting in 2006, Our Mob is held every year in the spirit of reconciliation to demonstrate the power of art in bringing diverse people together in harmony with a common goal.

It also allows for people to learn more about South Australian Aboriginal culture as Our Mob artists all have different stories to tell.

The exhibition has also boosted the careers of numerous artists and generated sales to support their artistry.

The entry to apply is free and prizes include a $5,000 Don Dunstan Foundation Our Mob Emerging Artist 2019 award and a $1,500 Country Arts SA Regional Our Mob Emerging Artist Professional Development Award.

As for Our Young Mob, the winning artist is awarded art materials donated by Ku Arts.

To be considered for Our Mob 2019, artists can apply either online via this link here or download a pdf form here. Applications close 5pm Friday 5 July

Our Mob 2019 will take place from August 23 to October 3 in Adelaide Festival Centre’s QBE gallery. Displayed works will be available for sale as well.
