Abundance is Rose Park’s newest café serving up locally roasted coffee, mouth-watering brunch, and plenty of big smiles.

The café is Rose Park’s best kept secret, with its soft opening on Saturday December 4. Part owners Sam Mckay and Theo Engela also own HARK! in Malvern. Sam said the hush in the lead-up did not stop the flocks of people heading in to check out the new spot.

“We were twice as busy at Abundance on the opening day than we were at HARK!’s debut,” Sam said.

“We always want to put positive spin on how we do things and we bring this culture into everything we do.

“That’s the reason we called it Abundance – we feel like we’ve been abundantly blessed and share this with all who come.”

Taking over the space that was once home to Little Sparrows, Abundance strays from the ordinary. Sam said he wants people who come to the café to experience something unique, from the food, to the coffee to the culture.

The corner spot located in arguable one of the nicest street in Adelaide brings in so much light which pairs well with the highland oak tables and feeling of relaxation when you come in.

The head chef Mel Gush who has worked with Chianti restaurant is the past serves up a delicious menu of seasonal dishes using locally sourced ingredients.

“We go to the farmers markets for our produce and we put effort into making it local and fresh,” Sam said.

“When we were planning food for Abundance, we didn’t want to be boring. We do a bacon and slaw Turkish roll with relish, lighter savoury options like a pumpkin capsicum roll, and we also do salads with a meat option and a veg option every day.

“Today its Moroccan tabouleh with cous cous as well as an Asian noodle salad with chicken and a lime dressing.”

There’s also an in-house baker at Abundance who cooks up fresh baked pastries, sweets and bread which switches up every day.

“Everything is hand crafted,” Sam said.

“We want to invest deep and have a culture that is healthy.”

Along with the food on offer, Abundance serves up their own blend of coffee that is also on offer at HARK!. They use a fluid bed roasting technique, bringing a unique flavour to the coffee.

“There’s about 170 roasters in Adelaide and we are one of three who use this fluid bed roasting technique,” Sam said.

“We air roast the coffee where the beans levitate of hot air as they roast giving it a special flavour.

“We dabble is rare specialty coffee, and we really want to share with people the story of the beans from the farm to the cup.

“We source coffee from around the world from Brazil to Columbia and change our offering every week – this week we have a Mexican coffee blend on offer.”

The new café brings more than an abundance of amazing food and coffee to the cute space. Their amazing positive and welcoming culture draws people in along with the friendly service.

All are welcome into the new café, including furry doggos who can come both in and outside the café – when you stop by, be sure to say Hello to Pilot, the resident groodle.

In the future, Sam says they hope to expand the menu and offer wine to drink in-store or take home. They are also looking to start stocking light groceries that you can take home and use to cook up a delicious dinner.

Abundance is located at 52 Alexandra Ave, Rose Park.
