AC Arts Dance Students’ Premiere New Works

TAFE SA Adelaide College of the Arts (AC Arts) final year dance students present a collection of nine eclectic dance pieces for the first time during the Adelaide Fringe from 2 to 5 March.

Choreographed individually by the students over five weeks, Rip Drag Ruminate is a product of three years of solid training by the class of nine emerging dancers.

The dance pieces range from explosive contemporary dance to intimate dance theatre and all demonstrate the wealth of creativity within Adelaide’s next generation of dancers.

Bachelor of Dance Performance student Amy Hazell is looking forward to seeing the complete pieces out of the studio and into the theatre with an audience.

“I love seeing how different we all are as dancers and choreographers…you can’t get much more varied pieces!” she said.

On what Ms Hazell enjoys about studying at AC Arts she said: “I appreciate the close community, and artistic environment. The AC Arts dance course has a supportive and positive atmosphere, which can be rare in such a demanding environment. The lecturers genuinely want the best for us, and constantly push us to achieve our maximum.”

AC Arts Creative Director Christie Anthoney said: “Rip Drag Ruminate is a fabulous experience for the dancers. They get to be Fringe Artists before they graduate and really test their knowledge of the process. Their work is also promoted to a new audience and tickets are selling fast.”
