Glenelg favourite Bomdia Bowls is a staple toward the beach, and they are hoping to become a go-to in the city as well.
The acaí haven has opened a location in Hindmarsh Square, serving up the same much-loved menu as their Glenelg counterpart.
They of course have their famous bowls––which include the “BomChoc” loaded with Snickers or toasted coco chips, and the “Hortela,” a mint bowl with granola, banana, and strawberries––but they also have breakfast options, which have proven to be a hit in the CBD. They have a range of coffees, smoothies, and small bites like avo on toast and nut butter toast, and they even have an ever-rotating selection of soups.
Manager Dale Brewster says that due to the often grab-and-go nature of the city, the avocado on toast and coffees tend to be popular options. However, he also says that the new venue is a really relaxing atmosphere to enjoy their signature acaí bowls too.
“Eating acaí has a tropical vibe where people want to be away and on a beach, so we’re giving people a little bit of that here,” Brewster says.
“It’s a nice spot tucked away and overlooking the park. It’s a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle in a little bit of nature.”
He says that while the Hindmarsh Square spot has its own identity, it still has the same vibes and of course the same menu as its Glenelg sister spot.
“We tweaked it a bit, so it’s not as beachy as the Glenelg location,” Brewster says.
“It’s more of a modern, clean-cut bar, but it still has touches of plants and a relaxed atmosphere.”
The Hindmarsh Square location has large windows, an exposed industrial ceiling, timber framing, and an “earthy feel.”
Their menu caters to a lot of dietary restrictions, offering many gluten-free and vegan options.
In a few weeks time, the city location will have a colourful mural outside, marking the colourful bowls and treats awaiting inside.
