Located in the heart of Eden Valley, the current custodians of the Poonawatta vines are Michelle and Andrew Holt.
“We have a 160-year history of Eden Valley farming and viticulture, with three generations currently involved in the vineyard,” said Michelle.
The centrepiece of the Poonawatta crown is the original Shiraz vineyard, planted in 1880.
“It is such a privilege to be the custodians of these wonderful old vines.”
Alongside the 1880 vines, an old Riesling vineyard and two Shiraz vineyards complete the ‘estate’ offering. These small blocks produce single vineyard wines, made in tiny volumes, often counted in bottles rather than cases.
After 16 years, Michelle and Andrew commenced a brand redesign of the Estate Range; the brief to revitalise the package while retaining key recognition cues, adding elements of premiumisation while enhancing shelf appeal.
