Located in the heart of Eden Valley, the current custodians of the Poonawatta vines are Michelle and Andrew Holt.
“We have a 160-year history of Eden Valley farming and viticulture, with three generations currently involved in the vineyard,” said Michelle.
The centrepiece of the Poonawatta crown is the original Shiraz vineyard, planted in 1880.
“It is such a privilege to be the custodians of these wonderful old vines.”
Alongside the 1880 vines, an old Riesling vineyard and two Shiraz vineyards complete the ‘estate’ offering. These small blocks produce single vineyard wines, made in tiny volumes, often counted in bottles rather than cases.
After 16 years, Michelle and Andrew commenced a brand redesign of the Estate Range; the brief to revitalise the package while retaining key recognition cues, adding elements of premiumisation while enhancing shelf appeal.
To celebrate the brand re-fresh of Poonawatta’s Estate range, Poonawatta are offering 25 Glam readers the opportunity to grab a six-bottle collection of these single vineyard wines at a massive 30% discount.
This single vineyard collection valued at $238, at the special Glam reader price is $166, delivered freight free. Two bottles each of Poonawatta The Eden Riesling 2018, Poonawatta Insurance Block Shiraz 2017 and Poonawatta The Cuttings Shiraz 2015. This is limited to the first 25 orders. Offer available until the 6th July unless sold out. Don’t miss out- get your 6 bottles here.
To further add to Poonawatta’s celebration, they have also been awarded a Certificate of Excellence by International Wine Publication – The Real Review, and recognised in The Real Review Top Wineries of Australia 2019.
“For a small, family owned wine producer, to be included on a list with so many great and iconic wine brands is testament to the hard work and passion, from vine to bottle.”
To share the excitement they have put together a ‘best of The Real Review’ 6 bottle single vineyard collection.
With a cellar door due to open in late 2020, tastings are currently held around the homestead table, and appointments can be made via email or phone.
You will be greeted by the fur hosts, Chelsea and Oscar, who will bark feverishly until the car door opens, at which point they will become your best friends.
Poonawatta is also stocked at Taste Eden Valley regional wine room in Angaston, along with other great offerings from Eden Valley.
