Action-packed Summer Festival returns to Adelaide’s west this January for free family fun

Adelaide’s West is gearing up to kickstart the new year with a bang as the much-anticipated Summer Festival 2025 returns.

As we stride out of the holiday season and head towards the first sunny days of 2025, Adelaide’s west is gearing up to launch the new year with a bang. The highly-anticipated Summer Festival is set to return to the west side for another round of free, family-friendly fun in the sun.

As an annual highlight of the region, the 2025 Summer Festival has heaps of action for the whole family. Kicking off on Saturday, January 11th for six weeks of eventful entertainment. From open-air cinemas to live music, giant water inflatables, mouthwatering food options, and the return of the popular ‘Touch-a-Truck’ event, the festival team has once again pencilled in a fantastic schedule of activities for all ages.

The full schedule for 2025’s Summer Festival is outlined below!

Saturday, January 11 – Open Air Cinema

The festival will commence with an open-air cinema experience with a giant 7.5-meter outdoor cinema screen. Under the starry sky, families can gather at Golflands Reserve in Glenelg North to watch everyone’s favourite fighting panda kick some butt in Kung Fu Panda 4. Pack your own picnic, or pick up a snag from the on-site sausage sizzle. This event is licensed for BYO only, so bring along your own cold ones and crack them open in front of the big screen.

Friday, January 17 – Music & Markets

Next up on the schedule, bring the family down to West Torrens for an evening of live music, market stalls, art expos, and heaps of activities. Local hair extraordinaires Attaboy will be on site dishing out new styles, and mixed media artist Calamity Tash will be there to bedazzle your body with a glitter tattoo. The kids can also have a round of mini golf or go ham on some retro arcade games.

Saturday, January 18 – Splash!

Families are invited to dive into the festival’s warm-weather favourite, “Splash!” This event features giant water slides and muddy activities by Climbing Tree, making it essential to bring bathers, towels, and a change of clothes. Delicious food, coffee, and ice cream will be available onsite, ensuring a day of refreshing fun for all ages.

Saturday, January 25 – All Together Now

The festival’s fourth event will transform into a global music extravaganza with performances by Sun of Africa and Cartel Afinke, allowing attendees to tour the world through music. Kids can also join in the fun with the Amazing Drumming Monkeys show. Bring a picnic or savour the delicious cuisine available for purchase. This event will also have a sensory space for attendees in the Hamra Centre Library until 8.30pm.

Saturday, February 1 – Touch-a-truck

For the vehicle enthusiasts among us, “Touch-a-Truck” offers an exciting opportunity for kids of all ages to explore a wide variety of vehicles up close. Meet the people who drive them, ask questions, and satisfy your curiosity about how these machines work. Food, coffee and ice cream will also be available for purchase.

Saturday, February 8 – Music in the Park

Saving the best for last, Music in the Park will close out the 2025 Summer Festival with an evening of live music, mouth-watering food and drinks, and a whole lot of fun. Bring your own picnic, grab a bite from the Angels Baseball Club BBQ, or try some delicious eats from Fork on the Road’s food trucks.
