Adelaide’s Largest Women’s Health Expo

womenshealthOne of Adelaide’s largest ever Women’s Health Expos will be held at the University of Adelaide on Wednesday 21 April 2010.

Organised by the Adelaide University Union and its Student Representative Council (SRC), the Expo will involve more than 40 university, government and community organisations.

Information relating to all aspects of women’s health, including physical, mental and sexual health, along with relationship guidance, will be available at the Expo, held on the Barr Smith Lawns from 12pm-2pm.

SRC Women’s Officer and Event Manager Sarah Anderson says: “The Adelaide University Union, the University of Adelaide and the government/community sector offer a fantastic standard of health services in a range of areas.  Sadly, many students are unaware they can access these services. The Women’s Health Expo aims to connect young women with those services relevant to their personal health needs.”

The University’s Counselling, Disability & Elite Athlete Service Manager, Colleen Lewig, says university students experience a wide range of health and wellbeing issues.

“It is important they are aware of how and where they can access support to help them deal with these concerns. This Expo will be of great benefit in showcasing not only the University services available to them, but also the wide range of community and government services they can draw on.”

The Women’s Health Expo will also incorporate a range of activities and features including a belly dancing demonstration by leading Adelaide Troupe Belly Dance Arabesque, games such as bocce and quoits, as well as free goodie bags, food and entertainment.

The event is open to the general public.
